I'm in a random mood, so I decided to write,
I have three voices in my head, Lulu, Lila, and Hayley.
Lulu focuses only on the negative and is always the kill-joy.
Lila is like, super positive and random.
Hayley is the sensible one and is always the one to make the smart decisions.
Hermione came back the day before term started. I had been watching out my window all day. When she finally came... Let's just say I was "normal".
"HERMIONE YOU WATERMELON I MISSED YOU!" I shouted, engulfing her in a monster hug. She pushed me away and looked directly at me.
"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked. She sounded genuinely worried.
Shucks.
"Totally fine. Perfect, even." I said.
"Good." She said, pulling me back into the hug. I skipped around her as we walked back up to the castle.
"So how've your holidays been?" I asked.
"Great." She said. "Did you find anything on Flamel?"
"Nah. I think we stopped looking after a while." I said. Hermione looked disappointed, so I told her about the mirror.
"He snuck out THREE nights in a row?" She repeated, horrified. "He could have easily been caught by Filch!"
Okay, telling her wasn't the brightest idea.
"I made a new friend." I said, trying to change the subject.
"Oh? Who?" Hermione asked.
"Azalea Dolt. She's in our year, but she's a Ravenclaw." I said.
"Do you think we could be friends?"
"If you can handle another me."
"No, i don't think so." Hermione said. I laughed. Harry and Ron ran up.
"Hermione!" They said brightly.
"Harry. Ron." Hermione greeted them.
"Jinx, your brother is looking for you." Ron told me.
"Oh?" I said.
"He came swaggering up to me and I said, 'What do you want, Malfoy?' and he said 'I was looking for Jinx. Any idea where she'd be?' and I said, 'Most likey greeting Hermione. What's it to you?' and he said 'She's my sister, Weasley. I thought that was obvious enough.' and then he swaggered off." Ron said.
"I'll go look for him." I said.
"Why?" Ron asked. I shifted my weight uncomfortable.
"I just... He's the only one who..." I tried. "Doesn't matter. Bye."
And with that I left quickly. I found Draco in the entrance hall, just coming out to find me.
"Draco! Ron told me you were looking for me." I said.
"Yeah... Mom and Dad think you're dead." Draco said. He looked me over. "Are you okay? I don't know how long you were up there."
"Fine. I got out after only three days. Best Christmas present ever: Breaking out of my room." I joked.
"That reminds me. Here." He held out a box wrapped in silver paper.
"Oh, Draco. The money was enough. Too much, actually." I said.
"No, it's yours. I have the rest -- they're in my trunk. Is there anyway you can sneak out tonight?" He asked me. I frowned.
"Maybe. I can't get caught." I said miserably.
"Well, maybe we can meet eariler. Like during dinner. No one will be around then."
"Sounds good." I grinned. "But honestly, I don't need anything."
"You have what's in your trunk and the bag of money, right?" Draco asked.
"Yes."
"But that's all you have."
"I don't need anything else."
Draco sighed. "I have no use for the stuff. They're rightfully yours."
"Fine. I might just have to get a suitcase or something....." I mused.
"Just meet me by the library at six, okay?"
"Okay."
And I skipped to my dorm to find Hermione. She was unpacking.
"Hey... did you check your pillow?" I asked.
"No... why?" She looked over. "Jinx, you didn't"
"I did." I sang. "I had no use for it."
She unwrapped it and opened the case.
"Oh Jinx! I love them!" She said.
"I knew you would." I grinned. She threw me a box.
"What's this?" I asked.
"Your present." She told me.
"What? I didn't expect anything from you." I said, slowly unwrapping it. It was a deep red jewelery case. I opened it to find a small pair of gold earrings with a deep red stone in the middle. "Gryffindor colors."
"Yeah... I don't wear earrings, usually."
"So my present is pretty much useless, huh?"
"I didn't mean that. I will wear those, because they came from you. But those... they're not really my style. I thought you would like them, though."
"I love them." I said. (By the way, those are the earrings that she's wearing in the picture.) Hermione glanced over at the clock.
"It's nearly six. We better go to dinner." Hermione said.
"Er, you go. I'm not that hungry." I said. Hermione placed her hand on my forehead.
"You're not sick, are you? Are you sure you're okay?" She asked.
"I'm fine... Maybe I'll come down later." I said.
"Okay...." She said. She turned and left. I forced myself to wait ten minutes, then went to meet Draco.
"Good, you came. Filch can only go past so many times without getting suspicious." Draco said. "Here."
He handed me a stack of presents.
"I'll see you around, okay?" He said. He hesitated. He looked uncomfortable. "I love you, Jinx."
That took me by surprise.
"I love you too, Draco." I managed. "I better be going."
"Yeah, me too." He said quickly.
We said an awkward goodbye and went our separate ways.
I took the stuff up to my dorm and headed to dinner.
"Jinx! I thought you weren't hungry." Hermione said.
"Well, I wasn't. Now I am." I said, piling food onto my plate. She gave me a suspicious look.
"So what did your brother want with you eariler?" Ron asked. I shrugged.
"Just an update on my parents." I said casually. "They think I'm dead."
The all stared at me.
"What?" I asked.
"Your parents think you're dead, and you're acting like all that's wrong is that you've got a splinter!" Ron said, shocker.
"Yeah. So?" I said.
"It's unnatural to be taking this so easily, Jinx." Hermione said seriously.
"When exactly have I been usual?" I asked.
That shut them up.
