"To your right!"
Azalea swung hard right and felt the sword connect with something. The thing she hit screamed in pain, but they kept running.
"To your left!" Bilbo warned her. "No, your other left!"
Bilbo kept shouting directions. Azalea swung the sword in those directions, trying to hit the enemies in her way.
"Stairs," he announced.
Azalea tested out a few stairs to get the feel of the height of the stairs. Then, she ran. Bilbo started shouting directions again when the stairs turned.
It got extremely cold shockingly fast.
"Ice?" Azalea asked.
"Lots," Bilbo affirmed.
"Okay."
"Be careful."
Tense silence passed between them.
"There should be more people up here," Bilbo whispered. "Where is everyone?"
"I don't know," Azalea replied.
A loud voice boomed across the ice field in a language Azalea didn't recognize. The voice seemed oddly familiar.
"No!" someone screamed.
"What just happened?" Azalea asked.
"Fili..." Bilbo whispered.
He didn't need to finish the sentence. The conversation continued.
"In front of you!" Bilbo whisper-shouted. Azalea drew her sword and felt the metal connect with metal. She guessed what his next move would be, and she guessed correctly.
"Watch out!" Bilbo warned. Suddenly, Azalea was flying. She slammed into a wall, the wind knocked out of her. She struggled to breathe. She knew the orc had gone after Bilbo. She tried to get up to help him, but every nerve screamed at her, telling her to stop moving, if only for a minute. She lay with her face in the ground, trying to catch her breath. Judging by the sounds around her, the orc was slain.
"The eagles are coming," Bilbo whispered. Then, Azalea didn't heard anything else from him.
"Bilbo?" she asked. When he didn't answered, she continued, "If you're dead, I'm going to kill you."
When she could finally breathe normally, she tried to push herself up. Her arms shook and she fell again. She tried another time and received the same result.
"That's okay," she said. "We'll just stay here, then."
Without meaning to, the gray she normally saw turned to black as she fell asleep.
