"Vivian!' I turned around to see Mrs. Aryes running after me. She was the orchestra director and conductor. "There you are. I've been looking everywhere for you missy!" She gave me a kind smile.

"Whats up?" Parker stood next to me, his arm around my waist and looking between me and Mrs. Aryes.

"The orchestra's singer got sick last minute and we have a preformance in an hour. You are the best singer and the only one avalible. I know you don't like people to see you sing, but I really just don't want to have to cancel this preformance when the students have been working so hard all year. I'm sorry to ask so much of you, but I wouldn't unless I really needed you." She looked at me, desperation obvious on her face. I bit my lip. I really hate to let people know about my singing. Especially to preform in front of the entire academy. Singing was the one thing that I liked to keep to myself.

"Ok. I don't see why not. I don't want to let down the band." I plasted on a fake smile and let her pull me away from Parker. I looked back and blew him a kiss. He smiled and his blue eyes stared into mine, even from the far distance.

We walked into the music room and I was greeted by the orchestra all in their Nashville Academy uniforms. They looked relieved to see me here and willing to preform. Mrs. Aryes gave me the sheet music and we ran through all the songs. I loved the majority of the songs and I only had to sing one.

Finally it was time for the preformance. The orchestra and I were behind the large red curtain in the auditorium. I stood front and center with only a microphone seperating me from the crowd. I looked back to the orchestra and my friends there nodded encouragement. I gave them two thumbs up and smiled big. They laughed and it seemed to lighten the pre-perfomance jitters.

Then, I heard the dean announce us and when he said my name, many whispers broke out. I hoped i don't mess up.

The curtain opened and the orchestra started the opening notes. I had preformed infront of all these people before, but now it was more personal. I closed my eyes and began to sing.

I let it fall, my heart,

And as it fell you rose to claim it

It was dark and I was over

Until you kissed my lips and you saved me

My hands, they're strong

But my knees were far too weak

To stand in your arms

Without falling to your feet

But there's a side to you

That I never knew, never knew.

All the things you'd say

They were never true, never true,

And the games you play

You would always win, always win.

[Chorus:]

But I set fire to the rain,

Watched it pour as I touched your face,

Well, it burned while I cried

'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!

When I lay with you

I could stay there

Close my eyes

Feel you here forever

You and me together

Nothing gets better

'Cause there's a side to you

That I never knew, never knew,

All the things you'd say,

They were never true, never true,

And the games you play

You would always win, always win.

[Chorus:]

But I set fire to the rain,

Watched it pour as I touched your face,

Well, it burned while I cried

'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name!

I set fire to the rain

And I threw us into the flames

Well, it felt something died

'Cause I knew that there was the last time, the last time!

Sometimes I wake up by the door,

That heart you caught must be waiting for you

Even now when we're already over

I can't help myself from looking for you.

[Chorus:]

I set fire to the rain,

Watched it pour as I touched your face,

Well, it burned while I cried

'Cause I heard it screaming out your name, your name

I set fire to the rain,

And I threw us into the flames

Well, it felt something died

'Cause I knew that there was the last time, the last time, oh, oh!

Let it burn

Let it burn

Let it burn

The applause was thunderous. I started to walk to the backstage when I heard people yelling my name. I saw all of my friends standing up and cheering me on. I blushed and pointed to the orchestra. I bowed to them and clapped for them. I didn't want to steal the spotlight from them. I walked off of the stage and was greeted by Mrs. Ayres who rambled on at a million miles per hour. I just nodded and smiled and polietly excused myself.

I walked to the dance practice room. I took deep breaths as I let the sunshine from the window wash over me. Slowly, the nerves evaporated and I started to laugh. How rediculous this day had turned out to be. And it all happened so fast.

I was still laughing when I heard a chuckle from behind me. I froze and a small gasp slipped through my lips. My mind was racing and I slowly turned around. My eyes widened when I saw who was behind me in the doorway. As I took in all their glory I couldn't help but open my mouth and try to say something past the lump in my throat.

A slight smirk was set on his lips as I was finally able to choke something out.

"What? How.......?"

"What no hello Vivi?" His voice reached my ears and my heart raced at its familiarness.
