Her tail swishes back and forth,
Her eyes locked on the foot.
The one dangling off the couch.
Swinging back and forth.
Tempting her. Teasing her.
She crouches low behind the glass table.
Waiting for the right moment.
Then suddenly, the foot is gone.
She looks up, seeing her mom looking down at her.
The girl smiles and reaches down to pet her.
She crouches low, her head almost touching the ground.
The girl chuckles and reaches under her chin, scratching lightly.
A purr errupts from her throat as she leaned into the girl.
As the girl's hand trails down her back, she rolls to her side.
The girl talks to her, a soothing tone.
She goes and sits on her favorite pillow in front of the fire
Curling up before the girl starts petting her again.
The girl seems somber, a sad look in her eyes.
The girl knows these moments won't last forever.
So does she, but she enjoys the moment to the last second.
The girl gets up, leaving her beautiful 14 year old cat alone to sleep in the heat of the fire.
