I woke up finding myself sprawled on the ground. As I tried to lift myself up I felt a sharp pain across my back and I fell back down.

"Wh- What happened?" I asked myself. It was about mid-day and the sun was scorching hot. I looked around and I was laying at the bottom of a steep hill. A few trees here and there but none closer than a few kilometers away. I looked down at the ground and there were wildebeest tracks as far as the eye can see.

Flashback

I ran in panic a few feet behind my mother as hundreds of wildebeest were running all around us. We've been running for a little over 15 minutes now and my legs were growing tired. My brothers and the rest of our pride was far ahead of us. But my mother was sticking close making sure that I wasn't left behind.

"Nala! Hurry up! We just need to get past that river ov-"

A wildebeest rammed into me before I could hear the end of my mothers sentence and I rolled down a steep hill and everything went blank.

End of flashback

"I remember now..." I thought to myself.

"Mom? Mom are you here?" I cried out to my mother hoping that I would hear a response.

"How long have I been here?" I looked back down at the tracks and they were faded.

"Maybe... a day or two. Wow." I tried to get up one more time and managed to sit up. I looked around as my eyes gazed up the tall hill.

"I must have fell from up there." I pushed myself to get up, trying to ignore the pain across my back and I slowly started making my way up the hill. When i reached the top of the hill many bushes and trees and shade were here to greet me. I squinted across the plains and spotted a small river flowing slowly.

"Oh yeah, mother said something about a river. she probably went in that direction." I slowly paced myself into the direction of the river and once I arrived I decided to take a drink. The coolness of the water ran throughout my body as I gulped it down. It was so refreshing and I felt a little life come back to me. Then I looked around to see any signs of my pride or my mother but there was nothing. Even though there were no leads I crossed the river anyway and just started walking into that direction.

"I need to find my mother. I need to find my mother." I repeated this over and over as I walked in a direction I didn't know of. But I came to a sudden stop at the sound of my stomach growling.

"I need to find food. I need to find food." I repeated over and over as I kept walking in the same direction. And luckily for me I managed to sniff out a carcass of a boar with just a little meat left.

"Yes food!" I quickened my pace heading towards the carcass but then I came to a stop at the smell of another lion on the carcass. But not the same

smell of my pride. I raised my head and looked around to see if there were any signs of lions nearby but there wasn't anyone near by. So I cautiously started eating the carcass. It settled well in my stomach it tasted so good. Even though there weren't much on the bones.

"Good thing I got to it before the hyenas did." I let a little giggle escape and I started walking again.

Few days had passed since the day I woke up alone at the bottom of that hill. I was traveling blindly, sleeping under bushes every night. Managing to hide from a few hyena. But one night I was sleeping under a lonely tree until I felt a little nudge.

"Hello?"
