Chapter 5.

"You know , 400 is alot Andrew."

"Nah, it's your 18th birthday and for the past 3 years I forget and end up getting you some cheap flowers and a random gift card."

We're at some random store , and some reason, she's browsing thru the guys shirts .

"Still, and hey sometimes the gift cards are good".

she smiles up at me , holding up a shirt with the Quote "f*ck off"

"Hey , since when are you into offensive guy shirts?"

I raise my eyebrow. Sure she was rebellious in certain things , when she turned 13 and begged to get an inhale of my cigg, or when she would stay up past 12 on a school night . But this ?

"I don't know . Being 18 and soon to leave to college , I can wear whatever . Just because I'm an honor student doesn't make me like them."

Like them, She said ?

"Like how , Kayla ?"

"Like all the honor students in my class . They're annoying wearing there good kid polos, they're expensive 200 dollar shoes . It's a waste of money and it's stupid".

I looked at her , made my lips a straight line . I wasn't trying to smile, and I didn't want to piss her off either. Kayla was a female mini me, at least mentally wise . I just dont want her to end up a mess, like me .

"Alright , don't get in trouble now".

"I never do."

she giggles and keeps looking around .

"I'm gonna take this , lets go get some lunch!" Whatever Kayla said was done.

Kayla is acting weirder than usual.

She got accepted to private school for her senior year, and I was glad she could balance her social life and her studies (something I could never do) but, I think this school is making her more open minded than she was before . Maybe she's just growing up though .

" I still don't understand why you decided to move so far away Andrew."

"I was accepted into this college . And I couldn't keep living with Luis".

"Why the hell not , Luis is nice".

"Yea but come on . It was ok for my freshman year but it was time to move ahead."

Before I use to just drive in the weekends back home, Driving every weekend got annoying so I just went over every 2 weekends, then helped pay the bills at the apartment with Luis , but now that's over and I hadn't visited Kayla in 6 months, Since I last moved to my own place.

"Anyway, your moving far away for college also".

"I know ... It's worth it right ?"

Her big green eyes shined and well, I'm lost at words . It was worth it ... If you wanted a new life, a fresh start .

"It depends how you see it Kayla, you just have to, adapt".

she nods her head , and my phone rings . It's a text from Laila .

-saw you runin to your car in the morning , almost got ran over, lol dumb ass , everything alright ?-

I smiled at the text , she's been revealing herself a bit more to me, I can see the trust growing ...

-had to drive some hours to see my little sis, stop stalking me . BTW how's the hangover -

"Texting your girlfriend?" I looked up, seeing Kayla's grin .

"No, just a friend."

"Rightt." did I really just smile that much at her text? Idiot me

"So um, you and Luis still talk right ?"

"Yea why? "

"Just asking , knowing that you moved from his place I thought you guys lost touch."

"Nah , we hang from time to time, and I work at the same place he does, so I see him a bit there."

She smiled and looked away to her phone , a little too quickly .
