Chapter 17: I'll always find my way back home

Justin's POV:

"Good morning Justin, how are you feeling?" a nurse asks me as she walks into the room and checks my temperature and vitals. 

"I'm feeling really good actually, considering I just woke up from a coma yesterday. How much longer am I going to have to stay here?" I ask the nurse. 

"I'll go get the doctor, he'll probably come check on you after breakfast. Has the cafeteria worker been by to take your order yet?"

"Yeah" I respond as a knock sounds at the door. The nurse walks over and opens the door, and a cafeteria worker brings my trey over to me. 

"Enjoy your pancakes" the lady says before she turns to leave the room. The nurse smiles at me and then also leaves the room, leaving me alone with my pancakes and orange juice. I happily chomp away, not realizing how hungry I really was until I started eating the mediocre hospital food. 

"Good morning Justin, did you sleep okay last night?" I hear, so I look up and see Emma walking into the room with a sleeping Lily on her side. 

"I slept alright, I just can't wait to get out of here and go home to a comfortable bed and to you and Lily." I tell her.

She smiles at me sympathetically before walking to my hospital bed and setting Lily in my lap, avoiding the trey in front of me. "She fell asleep on the ride over here and wouldn't wake up for anything so I had to carry her in here. She's getting to big for me to be carrying her, I'm not supposed to lift anything over 20 lbs at this point in the pregnancy." Emma says as she sits in the chair next to the bed. 

"You should have made her wake up and walk in here herself, you can't be putting that much weight on the baby, it isn't healthy. I don't want anything bad to happen." I tell her, looking down at Lily and moving the hair out of her face. "Lily baby, wake up. Daddy wants to see those beautiful eyes of yours" I whisper while stroking Lily's face." 

"Daddy, leave me alone. I'm tired" Lily whines, before snuggling further into my chest. I laugh and continue eating my breakfast. "So Emma, have you made the appointment to find out the gender of Baby Bieber yet?" I ask Emma, getting excited at the mention of my little peanut in her tummy.

"I sure did, It's this afternoon. I had a feeling you'd be getting out of the hospital today. I spoke to the doctor before I came in here, and he said if all goes well you'll be checked out by noon. My appointment is at 1 o'clock in the pregnancy ward here at this hospital." she tells me with a smile on her face. 

*knock knock* The doctor knocks as he enters the room. "Mr. Bieber, I'm going to check you out and see how everything is going, and then you'll be free to go. But I'm going to need this little one off of your bed for this evaluation." he says to me. 

Emma comes over and takes Lily and places her on the sofa over by the window. After a fifteen minute evaluation the doctor gives me the okay to pack up my stuff and head home.  "Now remember, eat light, lots of rest, and no driving! I'll see you back here in one week for a check up and to determine when you can get back to work and start driving again. Be safe!" The doctor gives me the run down before leaving the room. 

~1:00 p.m.~

Emma's POV: 

"Emma Gardner?" I hear my name being called and look up to see a nurse standing with a door held open, holding a clipboard in her hand. 

I get up and make my way to the nurse, with Justin and Lily trailing behind me. "Okay, I need you to step onto this scale so I can get your weight." the nurse says pointing to a scale through the door. I hand my phone and purse to Justin, and then step onto the scale.

"Okay, it looks like you are weighing in at 135 lbs. At your first appointment of the pregnancy you weighed 115 lbs. I'd say your at a healthy weight for almost 4 months pregnant." the nurse says as she writes down my weight and leads me into a room. "The doctor will be with you shortly" she says as she leaves, shutting the door behind her.

Ten minutes later there's a knock at the door and then the doctor steps into the room, shutting the door behind her. "Good afternoon Emma, how're you feeling?" she asks me as she checks my pulse and blood pressure. "I've been doing pretty good. My morning sickness has been pretty strong, but I've also been stressed out because Justin was in a coma for ten days." I tell her, knowing she's going to lecture me. 

"Emma, you know you can't be stressed during this pregnancy. You almost lost Lily when you were pregnant with her because of the stress, you need to be careful. I'm putting you on bed rest until your next appointment in a month, just to be safe. I'll also prescribe you some tablets for the morning sickness, but it was probably caused by the stress your body was going through." she says as she squirts the gel onto my tummy and rubs the monitor around, looking for the baby.

"Ah, there's your baby. Do you want to hear the heartbeat?" she asks me. I look at Justin to see what he thinks and he nods, so I tell her yes. *Thump, thump, thump, thump* I tear up at the sound, and I can tell Justin has tears in his eyes as well. Lily is fascinated, watching the monitor. 

"Would you like to know the gender of the baby today Emma?" She asks me as she continues to move the monitor around on my stomach. "Yes please" I respond. She moves it around a little bit more and then tells us to look at the screen. "Do you see that? That there means that you are having a .............
