Chapter 3
I wake up to the sound of chirping birds at my window.
I turn to see my dog sleeping next to me, lightly snoring. I hastily look around where I am, forgetting what happened the night before. The room is a fairly small one, with a bathroom, bedroom, and living room, but it was perfect for the night. The whole room looks like a little ship with wooden floors and walls.
I get up from the lumpy bed that has two blankets, one soft and a wool blanket with a little sheep on the end. How cute. There's a T.V directly in front of my bed, and I look to see I set down my belongings under the T.V the night before. I get changed, putting a white tee, jeans, and a worn out pair of sneakers on.
I walk to the bathroom and I look at myself in the mirror. I have blue eyes and under I have dark, creased circles under my eyes. I look like a complete and utter mess, I think to myself.
I walk over to the sink and turn on the faucet to have cold water come in my hands. I splash the cold water on my face, instantly waking up. I look back to the mirror and see that my hair is a tangled staright mess, fly aways everywhere. I take my fingers and brush through my hair, fixing up imerfectections.
Once I'm satisified, I walk out of the bathroom, turning off the light.
I go back to my bedroom, getting Sophia's dog food out of the container and put in a bowl that came with the hotel. She wakes up, happily wagging her tail and trotting over to eat her breakfast. Right then my stomach starts growling. I look up at the clock that is placed on top of the bed and see that it's 8.15. After Sophia finishes, I take her leash from the T.V. counter and place it against her collar and walk out the dorr, locking it afterwards.
I take Sophia with me as I walk in the main office, to be greeted by Nate.
"Well goodmorning! The breakfast is down the hall!" Nate says, smiling.
"Thank you!" I say.
I turn around away from the counter and towards the popcorn machine and through a hall I didn't know existed.
There were many pictures of celebrites from the 80's and 90's on the halls, whoever put this up has great taste in music. I say to myself, grinning.
I walk down the hall until I see a room with booths everywhere. I am instantly greeted with a delicious smell of eggs and potatoes. I sit down to one of the empty rugged booths while putting Sophia in my lap. Seconds later, an old lady with white hair comes up to me, a plate of an omlet in her hand.
"This is for you my dear! Enojoy!" she says, handing me the plate and quickly walks away.
I eat my breakfast fast and once and a while Sophia tries to steal some food off my plate.
Once collecting all my things from room three, I take Sophia and walk over to the main office returning the key.
Nate is not in the room so I set the key down on the counter. I look back at the painting that I created many years ago, happy memories filling my mind.
***Two years earlier***
"Stay still!!" I say, laughing at my cousin.
I look down at her, who has been posing in the same position for one hour.
She's gorgeous, brown locks covering her face, perfect cheek bones, she could easily be a model.
"I'm trying! Are you almost done?" She asks, looking at me.
I do one last stoke on the canvas, and look at the masterpiece.
It's perfect, I think to myself.
Back to reality, Sophia licks my arm, breaking me out of my memory and I look again at the painting.
I remember last year, I had to sell it to have me be able to pay for my bills.
I take out my iphone and take a picture of my once called masterpiece, and walk out the door.
