Sorry for the mistakes!
Chapter 6
"Hey Jennifer wake up! Jennifer!" I hear, trying to block it out. "We are here!" a familiar voice says. I open my eyes. Where was I? I look up to see the gray car ceiling and everything rushes back in my memory. Matthew telling me everything between my father and his wishes to have me gone and him joking around with me.
I look up to see him, and I study his features, toned muscles, olive skin, dark brown hair that could be mistaken as black, and the most stunning green eyes. I look into his eyes again, noticing the green in his inner corner it's change from brown to blue in the outer corner. He has the most stunning eyelashes too. Dark and long, he could easily just blink his lashes and a girl would pop up instantly wanting to be with him. I look at under his eyes, where creased dark circles are, showing that he's not the type to sleep frequently.
"You like what you see?" He laughs clearly noticing that I have been looking at him for the past few moments.
"No!" I say as my cheeks grow furiously pink.
"Aw you're blushing! He says, poking my cheeks, causing me to grow even pinker, if that was at all possible.
"You're cute when you blush." He mutters, lookikng down at his hands but loud enough so I can hear.
I stare at him wide eyed.
Matthew looks up to see my expression and his eyes go big.
"Did I just say that aloud? I'm sorry it's just been such a long day." He says, while looking out the window.
I secretly wanted him not to have an explanation but to have him admit that he just said it.
What Jennifer are you crazy you barely know the guy!
"Let's get out." He says, breaking the quiet awkwardness in the car.
We both hop out of the car as I drop Sophia on the uneven green grass. Hearing the surrondings around us we are greeted with the sound of chirping bugs.
I walk Sophia a couple feet away from the car and let her do her business. I take in the sight before me. I see all the beautiful trees, the sun in between them, and all of the high, unmowed grass. It was obvious that not a lot of people come here often to upkeep the place, but it is so pretty. After Sophia is done with all of her rolling around, I tie her up to a tree nearby.
I look to the side of me too see that Matthew is unloading his car. He has bunches of coolers and 2 suitcases. I watch as his arms go up and down, unloading the items. His toned muscles flexing through his shirt and his dark hair going in the wind. I take my mind off of him and look back at the coolers. At the thought of it, I'm hungry.
I walk over to see that Matthew has already been taking out bread, mayonnaise, turkey, lettuce to make sandwiches and is putting all of it on top of the car. I look in the car window at the clock on his car and it reads 3.45. I hadn't had lunch or breakfast, that's why I am so hungry!
I walk over to Matthew, him turning over to me, greeting my arrival.
"Are you getting hungry?" He asks, lifting up the bread.
"Yes very!" I say, smiling.
"Does that little dog of yours need some food too?" He asks.
"Oh yeah that's probably a good idea, we can feed her turkey!" I say.
We make our sandwiches and sit on the car and talk more about my dad and my dog. Every once and a while Matthew and I throw some turkey bits to Sophia, for her to eat in return.
"How old are you? I suddenly ask.
"I'm 23." He says, scratching his black locks.
"Cool." I say, trying to act like it isn't the coolest thing in the world that I might have a chance with this guy.
"I'm guessing that you know how old I am?" I say, taking another bite of my sandwich.
"Yeah, haha." He says, chucking, and taking a bite off his sandwich.
"Are your feet OK? Be honest." I say.
"Yeah, I'm wearing special boots anyway so I couldn't really feel the pain." He says, pointing to his boots.
"So do you know this place or is this just somewhere that we can hang out so no one can try to kill us." I say, giving him a glance and taking my last bite of the sandwich.
" Yes I have. this is a place where everyone in my situation come and hide. No one suspects a thing because it looks so run-down, so no one could think twice of coming here," he continues, " There's a waterfall a few miles north, and that's where a lot of people settle." Matthew says, cleaning up the remains of his meal.
"So should we go there?" I ask.
"Yeah let's go now." He says, standing up and walking over to the car to put everything away.
I walk over to the other side of the car and go over to the tree to get Sophia.
She's gone.
SHE'S GONE?!
"MATTHEW!" I yell, cold sweats coming to my forehead.
He runs over next to me. "Yeah what is i-," He looks down and see's for his eyes that indeed, my dog is missing.
"Well lets go what are you waiting for?" He says, running and calling out her name.
