I ran down the street, wishing that it'll stop raining. At this rate, I doubt I could reach the hospital in time. You see, my sister was caught in an accident as she came home from school. It was practically a miracle she survived.
Her surgery was going to end anytime now and I didn't want her to wake up without a familiar face around.
Rain splattered against my clothes, muting the blaring music from my headphones. I could only hope for the best and pray that my tired legs could take me to the bus station.
The clock struck eleven by the time I was in the vicinity of the hospital. I squinted my eyes as blinding light shone through the hospital doors, blaringly bright against the dull town surrounding it. As I dragged my tired and soaked limbs into the hospital, I noticed that the hospital was especially busy today. People were rushing in and out of rooms; some with stacks of paper, or patients, in tow. Shaking my head, I fiddled with my mP3 as I tried to ignore the stares thrown in my direction. Maybe it was because of my natural blue hair or that droplets fell off me as I walked to the receptionists.
"Um... Ex-excuse me?" I managed to stutter out, partly because I don't usually interact with people, partly because I was freezing. "I'm lo-looking for my si-sis-sister, she was in an accident re-recently."
The lady, Ms Huomi, as said by her nametag, looked at me with this strange look of sympathy as she stated: "Ms Hanna Younis has just finished her operation, please try coming again tomorrow as she isn't taking visitors right now." The guy next to her stared at me with pity and impatience. "Now can you please go? The people behind you need help as well." He said quite sharply, contrasting how he looked.
I could hear my heart drop at this. I felt myself nod and start to leave, ignoring the perpetual, confused stares from the silver-haired doctor.
