Aleks and I head farther into the woods, the cold slowly raising up. "What does that sign say?" Aleks pointed to the sign up ahead, the words printed in bold letters: PopzVille, welcome.
"What the hell is that?" I ask.
Aleks shrugs. "I guess we'll find out- It must be a village."
"Fifteen miles up ahead...hopefully we can find some help and maybe- a few horses." We start jogging along the trail, the next fifteen miles- let's just say that I wasn't exactly looking forward to it.
A few miles in and we start to hear music. I could faintly hear the words of "Safe and Sound" coming from up ahead. "What the hell?" Aleks tries looking from where he was at, but saw nothing.
"Wait- is that a Victor's Party I hear?" Aleks looked at me like I was crazy.
"The what the what?"
I roll my eyes. "A Victor's Party. You ever heard of the Hunger Games?" Aleks shook his head.
"I mean- I heard of it. I was never elected, though."
I kind of gave him a dumb look. "Well- it's a competition between players from all over. The kill each other and the last person remaining is the Victor- or winner." I could tell he didn't like the sound of that.
"It happens everyday?"
"No- yearly. Now come on- I want to get to it before the music stops." We start running along, hoping to get there just in time.
~The Village~
Aleks and I stopped, completely out of breath. "So- where are these so-called villagers?" He heaved. I pointed the center of the place.
"They're probably all there- but, we can't be seen."
"Why not?"
"We're fucking outlaws, Aleks. We were never invited...we're unexpected guests. Then, here you are coming here with a big freaking sword." He nodded, going in behind one of the houses. I snuck in right behind him, peering beside him to get a better look.
I could clearly see a bunch if people, most of them not from this village. They were all staring at someone in the middle. I tried to peek over more but I was kind of afraid that I'd get caught by someone. "What's happening?" I ask Aleks at barely a whisper.
"There's a guy and girl. They're dancing."
'I bet it's the Victor and his girlfriend.' I assume, trying my best to catch a glimpse of them.
Then, catching the slightest sight of them, I could that it WAS the year's Victor. I saw him- he had course dark hair and fair skin. He had the most delightful smile on his face, holding a young girl by the waist and hips. The girl was slightly older than me by the looks of it, her hair down and to the side. She was blushing and smiling uncontrollably, probably feeling like the luckiest girl in the world.
I kind of stuttered on words saying, "Come on, let's get closer. I think I see a couple of horses over there." We crouch down and start to sneak around the houses. I was careful not to disturb any of the neighboring dogs that were sleeping nearby.
I grab the lead of one of the hitched horses, a brown and white paint mare. I motioned to Aleks, who hurried and took a black stallion. I smiled at him, a quick 'Come and get it' look. He smiled right back at me, leading away the horse to the opposite side of the village. The slow dance was beginning to end and we needed to get out of here- fast.
Hello my Swiftys! I know- a little on the coincidental side but- I didn't exactly have the best storyline for this chapter. So, terribly sorry if you found this a little "pushy" on getting to the point. Also, I'm sorry for the short chapter. But, please be sure to do all that wonderful and support full stuff you all love to do :)
And as always, stay awesome bros! :D
