"We have to keep moving, Ty! We're not safe here! Last night, your dad came through here. He saw the fire, but not us. I had dragged you into the bushes, stashed everything in a hole. I also woke up to this wolf staring at me. But it's okay, he's tame. He can be our... companion." I pat the wolfs head, and he barks.
"My... dad? Oh God..." Ty stumbles into the bushes, dry retching at the mention of his father.
"Our village... It was so dark, known for its resources. Diamonds weren't rare there. Travlers would often dig tunnels around there, leading underground, where the spiders are." I stroke Tys back in an effort to comfort him.
"I... barely left the house. I barley know you, but you're still my... best friend. The best one I've ever had. I never knew any of the village history, all because of the fucker who beat me!" He punches a tree, breaking off a section.
"Well now you're away from him. Your dad won't find you now. And even if he finds us? Well... he'll have to get past me before he can hurt you again." I hug Ty, startling him. Slowly, he raps his arms around me, and giggles. "I'm here. I can tell you anything you want to know about the village. But before I can tell you anything, we should start moving, before anybody finds us.
~
"What was it like? The village, I mean." Ty whispers as we creep through the dense trees, the wolf at his side.
"Horrible. It seemed as if nobody was ever happy, just alive. Not living, just... surviving. There was no music. It was against the law. The only bright things about it were the village well, and the lamps that were spread far apart, casting shadows in between. The only reason that I can sing, is because I illegally crafted a jukebox and sang along quietly. No one else lived in my house, so it was never discovered. I destroyed it before I left..." I turn my head away, remembering long nights were I stayed awake, singing along with songs from far away towns.
"That was you? I lived beside you all along. My father would fall asleep on the bed, while I slept in the corner. Every night, I would stay up listening to the girl next door singing. I lived for the time that you would sing. That's... That's why I survived the beatings. Th-thank you, Storm. You saved my life." Ty grabs my shoulders, and pulls me into a long hug, which made us both cry.
Tears dripped from his eyes, and I could feel them land on my shirt. The wolf padded away, behind a tree and lay down.
"Ty, I lived, hoping for the time where I could sing for people. But I had it all along. Thank you." Tears blur my vision again as we sit down, still hugging. We stayed like that for hours, talking about anything that came to mind.

Running along a small path, we burst from the trees, stopping near a huge castle. I pull out my magnum, just to be safe, and load it. Creeping around the castle, a scream echoes around the quiet town. We race to the front of the castle, and see two people, a boy and a girl, by a small green house at the end of a road, cornered by a mutt. I aim my handgun, and fire, the bullet ending the screams. The mutt drops to the ground, dead, and the people look up at us. I can here a song, Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. It used to play on my jukebox.
"This is it, the apocalypse." I sing loudly enough for the people to hear. Looking at the boy, I realize that he must be the victor. The girl beside him must be his girlfriend. They start to run towards us, but the boy doesn't seem to want to.
~
We sat around a small campfire, just talking.
"So how'd you get the gun?" Mitch asks, prodding the fire with a stick.
"It was my fathers. Eventually, I ran out of bullets, and had to make my own. It was the only way for me to survive in my village, besides music."
"But you just said that music was against the law over there." Genessa, the girl, whispers.
"Guns were illegal too." I state, looking off into the woods. "But since I lived alone, nobody ever knew."
"Sayde had a jukebox as well. She would sing at night, she never knew, but it helped me fall asleep at night, after..." Tys voice cracks and stops talking.
"After his father would hit him." !I finish, putting my arm around him.
"So your father abused you? That's ironic for a village that's all about child safety." Gen says, saying she's sorry about his father.
I stand up, listening to a faint galloping of a horse. Genessa stands up too, hearing it too. She yells out to them, while Ty and I run off into the trees, waiting. Eventually they ride over, and we slowly creep out of the underbrush.
Alright guys! Whoopwhoop! Vote, comment, eat fish sticks! <3
