Her little cry was all I could remember. I knew I had given birth to her but I didn't know when and I didn't know where she was. And where was Hunter? Why was I connected to so many machines? Was my baby okay? My thoughts were interrupted by the door opening to reveal a nurse with bleached blonde hair.
"Oh good, you're awake. Your husband's in the waiting room, I'll go get him for you."
She smiled and closed the door.
So that's where Hunter was. The waiting room.
The door quietly opened and Hunter slowly walked in. His eyes were red and puffy and his lip was quivering.
"I'm so glad you're okay...I was so worried about you. I love you, I love you, I love you." He sat down on the side of the bed and kissed my forehead. I was so confused, I didn't remember anything.
"Hunter, what happened? Where's Kenlee?"
Tears started to form in his eyes. I tried to wipe them away but they just kept coming.
"You've been unconscious for-for three days and you have really high blood-blood pressure."
He wiped his eyes with his hand and laid down beside me.
"As far as Kenlee goes, she's suppose to be okay. She's in the intensive care unit but only because she's under four pounds, once she gains some weight she'll be fine."
I laid my head on Hunter. This was so much to process all at once but as long as Kenlee was okay, I was okay.
"When can we go see her?"
Hunter took out his phone.
"I'll ask the nurse when she comes back. I've already seen her though, she's beautiful just like her mommy."
Hunter handed me his phone.
"I took some pictures for you."
I sat up and scrolled through the pictures of Kenlee. She was absolutely adorable.
"She has your eyes Hunter."
I'm glad she got his green eyes instead of my brown ones. He smiled.
"She's perfect."
I gave Hunter his phone back and laid back down. I started slowly drifting in and out of sleep, fighting the urge to fall asleep.
"It's okay princess, you can go to sleep. I'll stay with you and I'll be here when you wake up. I love you."
"I love you too Hunter."
And with that, I fell asleep.
