It's been two days since I woke up so my doctor is letting me go home today. Kenlee still has to stay for two weeks though. I'm happy to leave the hospital after five days but I hate having to leave my baby. That's a new Mom's worst nightmare...or at least it's mine. Hunter and I packed everything up last night so the doctor said we could leave any time today. It was already three o'clock and we had already seen Kenlee so we decided to go home.
"You're finally leaving, babe."
Hunter squeezed my hand as we walked to our car.
"Yeah, I just wish Kenlee was coming with us."
It's so weird coming home without her.
"Yeah, I know but she'll be home as soon as we know it."
Hunter kissed my cheek and we got in the car.
When we got home I walked upstairs and changed into some shorts and a tshirt. I turned on some tv, hoping to get my mind off Kenlee not coming home. Hunter walked in and laid down beside me.
"I'm hungry, you wanna go get some food babeee?"
I laughed and nodded my head. I had really been craving Zaxby's so that's where we went. Hunter hated going through the drive thru so we went in to order. We ordered our food and then sat down in one of the booths.
"Oh my gosh, Vanessa!"
I looked up to see Hayden, an old friend of mine. I hadn't seen her in years.
"Hayden! Hey, how have you been? I haven't seen you in so long!"
We hugged and then talked about our life a little.
"Oh! I heard you had a baby? Boy or girl?"
Hunter heard her question and answered for me.
"It's a girl."
Hayden smiled.
"Aw, congrats!! Where is she? With your Mom?"
My heart dropped. I looked at Hunter and tried to hold back my tears.
"She's still in the hospital, she doesn't weigh enough to leave yet. Vanessa actually just got home a few hours ago."
Hunter squeezed my hand. He does that a lot when he wants me to know things are okay without saying they are.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! I'm sure she's adorable!"
Me and Hunter smiled. Our food was ready so we said our goodbyes and went back to the car. I didn't really say anything the whole way home. When we got back, I went inside and grabbed a plate and sat down at the island. Hunter put his head on my shoulder.
"Babe, it's okay."
I didn't say anything and kept eating my chicken.
"I'm gonna go eat in the den, I'll come check on you later."
He sighed and walked in the den. After about ten minutes I decided to go talk to Hunter. I walked in and sat down on the coach.
"You okay princess?"
I didn't say anything, I just hugged him. He already knew the answer to that question anyways.
"It's gonna be okay."
He kissed the top of my forehead and held me in his arms. Eventually I feel asleep. I didn't stay asleep long though, I woke up to my phone going off.
"Who is it babe?"
Hunter put down his video game controller and looked at me.
"The hospital."
