"Hey gorgeous, how'd you sleep?"
I woke up to find Hunter right beside me, just where he said he'd be.
"Good, thanks babe."
I kissed his cheek.
"So the nurse came in while you were sleeping and said whenever you wake up you can go see Kenlee."
I was so excited to finally be able to see my baby girl.
"Can we go now? I really want to see her."
Hunter stood up and grabbed my hand and pulled me up.
"Of course we can, she's down the hall. We'll have to get a nurse to let us in though, they're really strict about who can go in and who can't."
As we started walking down the hall, Hunter spotted one of the nurses and she prepped us to go in.
"You're finally going to get to see her, Nessa."
He smiled at me and squeezed my hand. We walked in and went to the very back left corner and there she was. My precious baby girl. The nurse had me sit down in a rocking chair as she went to careful take Kenlee out of her incubator. She wrapped her up in a pink blanket and handed her over to me. She was so tiny, it kind of scared me to hold her.
"She's so perfect."
I smiled down at her and kissed her forehead. I handed her back to the nurse and she put her back in her incubator.
"So when do you think we'll be able to leave?"
I asked the nurse as we were walking out.
"You should be able to leave in two days but Kenlee probably won't leave for another two weeks or so."
My heart dropped. I can't leave her for two weeks or maybe even more. She's suppose to come home with us when I leave, not stay at the hospital. The nurse took me back to my room and told me she'd check on me in an hour. As soon as the door closed I burst into tears.
"Hey hey hey, don't cry. It's gonna be okay Vanessa, don't worry. Kenlee just has to gain a pound or two and then everything will be fine. We can come visit her everyday and then she'll be home before you know it."
He wrapped his muscular arms around me and kissed my cheek.
"I love you so much, Hunter Bryce."
"I love you so much more, Vanessa Nicole."
