A week later...

My alarm screams waking me up. I groan and bury my head into my pillow. Today's the day of the school dance. I've been dreading this day for weeks now. Everyone is gonna be having fun at the dance while I sit at home by myself and read. Great.

School has been a living hell these past few days. I literally have no friends now that I've completely pushed Jace out of my life. I miss him more than anything.

I slowly get up and hobble into the bathroom. I take a shower and then brush my teeth. After that I slip on a pair of jeans with rips at the knees and a black sweatshirt. I throw my hair up into a messy bun and put on my converse before I grab my phone and book bag.

I walk downstairs and sit at the kitchen counter. Hopefully my mom doesn't question me about the dan-

"Samantha I think you should go to that dance." she turns around and winks at me.

I mentally swear. "No. Just no."

She raises her eyebrows. "Whatever I'm not gonna force you. But just remember magical things happen at dances."

I roll my eyes and grab a breakfast bar off of the counter. "Goodbye Mom. I'm walking today."

She smiles and hugs me. "Have a nice day and think about what I said young lady." she winks.

I scoff and walk out of the front door. There's no way in hell I am going to that dance.

•AT SCHOOL•

I take a deep breath and I push the door open. I quickly speed walk to the third floor and grab my stuff out of my locker. As soon as I close my locker I see him.

He runs his fingers through dirty blonde hair and laughs along with his football playing friends.

I hate him, I love him.

You don't how hard it is to hate and love someone at the exact same time. Everyday for the past week I've stared at him in the hall way.  He's even caught me a few times.

He stopped trying to get me to forgive him after I left him at the beach that one night.

God that night was amazing.

But things are for the better now, I guess he just doesn't care about me anymore. He's going to the dance with Mindy anyways.

I quickly walk to first period.

Ugh. There she goes again. Sam is the greatest thing that's ever happened to me and I love her so much but she hates me. That's why I've just given up on her. Everyday I catch her staring at me in the hallway and I just wanna go up to her and talk to her. I miss her so much.

"Jacey cakes I missed you."

I turn around and fake a smile. Mindy pecks me on the lips. "I missed you to babe." I lie. I hate her so much. I only agreed to go to the dance with her to make Sam jealous, but that obviously didn't work.

"We're wearing red to the dance tonight so make sure to buy me a red rose." Mindy grins.

I mentally groan and fake a smile. "Great I will definitely make sure!"

"Yay!" she yells. The bells rings. "I'll see you later, make sure to think about me!"

"I will." I lie again. I should be an actor I'm really good at bending the truth.

I walk into first period. My eyes glance over at Sam but I quickly look the other way and make my way over to my desk. The teacher's late to class so we have a little bit of free time.

"Psst Jace!" my friend John whispers.

"Uh yeah what's up?" I say.

"Are you gonna slid in Mindy's panties after the dance?" he winks.

I mentally gag. "The only panties I'd slid in are Sam's." I think to myself.

"Dude I thought you were over her?" John whispers with wide eyes.

"Holy shit I said that out loud?" I run my fingers through my hair.

John laughs. "You got it bad."

"Got what bad?" I ask stupidly.

John turns to me and grins. "You love her dude. Like alot. It's obvious."

I sink down in my seat. I didn't know that it was so obvious...

I walk through the lunch line with my hood up carrying my tray. I grab a ham sandwich, a water bottle and take the last apple sauce.

"Why'd you take the last apple sauce dude!" someone says from behind me.

My blood heats and I turn around flinging my hood off. My face falls.

"Sam?"

"Jace."
