"Drippity drop, plippity plop. The rain goes down onto ground." the five year old sang, jumping from puddle to puddle.
Her bright yellow rain coat and matching rubber boots were a splash of color against the bleak, rainy day.
"What you singing?" her older brother picked her up and put her on his shoulder.
"A song." she said happily, placing her yellow rain hat on his head.
"Is it a good song?" he asked, strolling down the sidewalk toward a park.
"Yeah. An amazey song."
"Do you mean amazing?" He chuckled.
"That's what I said! Amazey."
"Don't run. Come play." a voice whispered on the wind.
"Don't move." the little girl whispered in her brother's ear, her small body going stiff.
"Why not?" he whispered back, stopping with a smile, thinking she was playing.
"Becats she'll kill you."
"What?" he said, frowning, as he put her on the ground and kneeled in front of her.
The young child was frozen, her eyes transfixed on something behind him.
"I can help. Don't run." it said.
"What are you looking at?" he turned around and stood up immediately.
"Oh god."
A girl only a few years older than his younger sister stood on the sidewalk in front of them. Her corn colored hair was limp in the gentle breeze that would ruffle a living girl's hair. Her pajama shirt was shredded and her pants were frayed. Two glowing blue orbs replaced her eyes.
"Don't run. Come play." It said, the glowing blue orbs fixated on the older brother.
"No....." he pulled on his little sister shoulder before he turned to run.
"HE HURT ME!!" it screeched.
The older brother dropped dead, blood trickling from his ears.
The five year old stayed frozen as it came forward and brushed it's hand against her cheek.
"Don't run. Come play." it whispered before blowing away with the wind like grains of sand.
"Drippity drop, plippity plop. The rain goes down onto ground." the five year old sang, jumping from puddle to puddle again. She didn't acknowledge her brother's body as she skipped toward the park.
"Don't run. Come play." it whispered, the glowing blue orbs flashed before disappearing.
