Mary sighed and shut the door. Her little brother was sad again. With they're parents fighting, the little boy had only Mary.
Pitter patter.
"Eeeeek!" Mary shrieked, leaping back.
The small gray mouse stopped and looked up at Mary, it's pink nose twitching.
Mary jumped over the stair and continued down.
She peeked into the living room, hearing nothing.
The smear of blood was a bright red against the peeling white walls.
Mary covered her mouth in a silent scream as she looked around the room.
Her father was slumped at the base of the wall, blood seeping from an unknown wound. Her mother was simply dead. Her body was laying limp in the middle of the floor.
"Don't run. Come play." a little girl called from the corner, half behind a chair.
Mary shook her head and backed away.
The little girl had black hair that covered her face, only the two glowing blue eyes were visible. Her once-white night gown was torn at the end and the long sleeves were ripped into half sleeves.
Mary turned and ran. She ran into her brother's room and froze.
He was gone. The thin curtain fluttered weakly in the wind.
Mary took stiff steps to the open window and looked down.
Her brother's body lay on the the sidewalk, four stories below.
"I can help. Don't run." The girl said again, this time in the darkest corner of the little boy's room.
"What are you?" Mary whispered in horrification.
"Don't run. Come play." It said again.
"Never!" Mary darted to the window and threw herself out of it.
Her body landed with a thud near her brother's.
"Don't run. Come play." it said, looking out the window with its glowing blue eyes.
