Miyako POV

"Miyako!"

A bright light was flashed into my eyes and I brought my hands up to shield them. The faint voice called me again telling me to breath. I only nodded my head and the light was gone. I could focus faintly on the area. I recognized the soft pink cot I was on.

"The lab.." I mumbled sitting up. My head hurt like hell, everything was now focusing. I felt a sharp pain in my side. I could see the bandages around my waist, wrist and thighs. I check the clock, it was 7:25. "I'm late for school!" I yelled but slowly stumbled back down. Everything hurts.

Footsteps grew closer and Kaoru peaked in the room. "Miyako!" she exclaimed coming to my side "Are you alright?"

"Yeah," I grunted as Kaoru sat me up right on the bed.

"How are you?" she asked

"Could've been better," I replied. Kaoru moved over to the chair by me.

She stared down at her lap, twiddling with her thumbs. "Hey, Kaoru-

"Miyako, I'm really sorry about-

"Kaoru," I cut off her quiet sobs "You had family business, I'm okay."

She looked concerned but it turned to a pained look. "Momoko should of been there." she spat "I'm getting tired of her always being busy."

"Kaoru," I said sighed causing her to look me in the eyes. "It was all me. I should of been strong enough to fight Ivy on my own and I wasn't, okay."

Kaoru took a deep breath and let silence fall over us. I could tell by the look on her face, she hadn't forgiven herself or Momoko yet. Before I could say anything, a heard loud footsteps coming towards the room. The door swung open and Makoto stood there out of breath. He breathed heavily looking at me and Kaoru. "Miyako!" he cried hugging me tightly, knocking Kaoru over in the process.

"Mako!" I gasped feeling the impact on my chest. Mako only hugged me tighter, crying more. "Makoto, I'm okay." I slowly rubbed his back until he calmed down. Makoto dried his face but had little tears on the rims of his eyes. "Better?" I smiled.

"Yeah," he wiped his face "I was just..worried. I came to get you up and you wouldn't wake up. I got worried and Momoko came over. I tried getting you to the hospital and she told me to bring you here. I-I'm kinda glad I did. Miyako." he sighed "I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?" I kept my hand on his shoulder.

"Sorry for everything. The fights, the yelling, the work schedule."

"Makoto you're just looking out for me. I-I wasn't sleeping properly anyway. I deserved it."

"No." he hugged me again. "You don't deserve any of this. Miyako, you're my sister. All I have left. I love you." I heard his voice crack.

"I love you too." I shakingly told him, feeling my own eyes sting.

"That's why I can't lose you."

"I know. I can't lose you either."

.................

"Knock knock," the professor chimed, drawing our attention. "How ya' feeling?"

"Not terrible," I smiled slightly. Makoto held onto my hand while he sat in the chair next to the cot.

"Good," he smiled, Poochi running in behind him, jumping in my lap. "I looked over the test Miyako. Now you know I never liked false hope."

"What does that mean?" Makoto said sternly, rising some.
