I was hoping to wake up next to Matt the next morning, but of course he had disappeared by the morning light. It was the best I guess because I didn't want Mom to find him, or for him to get into trouble by his mother and soon to be stepfather for being out so late.
I get up, putting on my clothes on from last night, smiling brightly. I grab some fresh clothes and head into the shower to freshen up.
In the kitchen mom was surprised to see how cheerful I was in, especially when I'm always unhappy about attending school. If only she knew about the constant bullying from Samantha, she will understand why I was never happy. And it's not like I disliked school, because I really enjoyed. But today Samantha was the least of my worries. Today Matt was all I could think about after the amazing experience we had with each other. Although, I wasn't about to tell my mother that, especially not in front of my brothers.
I arrive at school, wondering whether or not if I should tell Bailey and Abby what Matt and I had done. I was still deciding whether or not if I should tell Emma. Was losing your virginity something you tell your girlfriends or was it something you keep to yourself?
I spot Bailey standing at the front of the school. I start heading over to her when I tripped on the concrete, plummeting to the ground. I spread my arms out to stop my face from hitting the ground. Pain from my broken wrist shot up. Even with the cast on and the pain killers I have been taking, it didn't stop it from causing the agony when I hit the ground hard.
"Oh gosh, Hailey, are you alright?" Bailey asks me as she ran over to me.
I get up onto my knees, biting down on my lip. I'm alright."
Bailey helps me up. "What happened?"
"I tripped on the concrete."
A chorus of laughter burst out near us. We turn to see Samantha with her friends, glancing in our direction. She says something about me being a klutz, possibility needing glasses if I couldn't see where I was going, and her friends laugh.
"Ignore her," Bailey says as we turn our backs to her. "You don't need glasses, Hailey. Anyone could have tripped over the concrete. I have done it plenty of times."
"Matthew!"
Bailey and I turn back in the direction of Samantha. My heart leaped in my chest when I see Matt heading our way. He has a smile on his face as he sees me, but the smile quickly disappears when Samantha walks over to him. My heart stopped jumping around and then I suddenly started feeling nausea.
"Matthew, I have been looking everywhere for you," she says.
"Yeah, well I wasn't looking for you."
She grabs his arm. "Come sit with my friends and me."
"No."
Samantha doesn't take no for an answer and drags Matt over to her group. Matt shrugs her arm off him, and then walks over to join Bailey and me. Samantha glances over at me, giving me a death stare as she rests her hand on her hip. I turn away from her.
"Hello ladies," Matt greets us.
I smile shyly at him. "Hey, Matt."
He winks an eye at me and then turns to Bailey. "How are you feeling from last night?"
Bailey rolls her eyes. "I'm still pissed off with Tayvon. Have you seen him yet?"
He shakes his head. "No, I haven't seen him or spoke to him."
"Well, when you see him, tell him I do not want to speak to him."
"Okay, well I will let him know when he comes." Matt glances over his shoulder at Samantha, who was glaring at us. He turns back to me. "Hailey, can I talk to you for a second?"
