Percy rode her bike everywhere. In New York, it seemed more practical to own a bicycle than a car, what with all the traffic.
As she pedaled down a semi-crowded street, her mind was clear. Percy relished the blankness of her mind. No worries, no cares, no stress, no fears. Just the wind in her hair and the crisp cold air and the people that don't stop to stare.
Except one.
Percy almost ran into a trash can and fell into it. She stopped herself in time, braking hard and falling off her bike anyways, but onto the floor.
A young man came running towards her.
"Are you alright?"
"I'm fine, just suffering from permanent idiot syndrome."
He laughed.
It was then that Percy's head started working. She shifted her gaze up to his face.
It was him.
"Tommy."
He looked confused.
"How did you-" His face morphed into one of realization. "Perce." He laughed again. "I can't believe it. It's you. It's really you. You looked so familiar, but I couldn't place it, and I-"
Percy pulled his face towards her's and did what she should've done all those years ago.
She kissed him.
Because there was no chance in hell that she'd mess up this opportunity. Not when the universe gave her a second chance.
"I missed you." Percy mumbled against his lips.
"I did too." Tommy slipped his fingers into hers. "It always wanted to do that, you know?"
A bubble of laughter escaped Percy's lips.
"For over eight years?"
"You have no idea."
A smile played on her lips.
"Maybe I do."
