Alkaios's POV
"Sit." We'd made it back to the cabin in one piece, but now Era was towering over us, pointing for us to take a seat at the sofa. She remained standing.
"What," She said softly, "Made you think that you had the right to follow me?"
"Well, we wanted to make sure you were safe-"
"LIES! You know that I can take care of myself."
"We were curious." I finally admitted.
"Curious." Era mused, picking at her nails. "What a useless emotion- you know, I think that you shouldn't be curious from now on, because maybe someone will smite you to the ground."
The warning was clear.
"If I could just ask," Ralan asked, "What was going on with you back in the forest?"
Era stiffened, and then her face grew dark and cold. "None of your business." She retorted. She was about to say more, but then one of the demigods rushed into our cabin, panting and flailing.
"They're attacking!" She screamed, then ran out.
Era smiled, her sharpened nails flashing. "Showtime."
Thalia's POV
I stared in horror as the monsters smashed through the shield protecting camp without a second thought.
"This isn't even his true might," Said one of the Seraphim, who happened to be standing behind me. "He's just testing the waters right now. He senses that a powerful force is here, but he does not know if it is us yet."
That's when the screaming began.
Alkaios's POV
I scanned the approaching army frantically, looking at the array of monsters that Order had sent. "Hellhounds, basilisks, oni, kappas, werewolves... from all different cultures!" I screamed this to the Seraphim, and then jumped into battle.
The campers around me cleared a path, the army of Chaos contained in five people. We were a battering ram, a snake designed to strike into the heart of Order's Operations.
Once we made it into the middle of the pack, we separated, each taking a certain part of the army. The campers made a small dent on the outside, and we killed them from the middle.
I faced one of the oni. They were Japanese, and they were huge trolls that were almost impossible to defeat... with normal blades.
I whirled, with my blade outward and it cut through it's flesh like butter. He slumped to the ground, where I sliced off his head to finish him off.
"Alkaios!" I heard my name being called, and that was all it took for me to swing around and catch the launching Kappa off guard.
We fought our way towards the outside, but we were hardly doing anything... but then Era started working.
She was surrounded by golden light, her eyes lighting up. She looked at me, her eyes solid gold. She tilted her head to the side and smiled a bit. Then the light around her exploded, obscuring her from view, and blinding everything in a 2 mile radius.
When the light faded, only dust was left of the army. The only downside was that Era had collapsed along with them.
I remembered something from my past, then. With great power, comes great need to take a nap.
Era was much more powerful than him. Was she going to be unconscious for days?
Era's POV
It was reckless, using that much power on such a small army. But the thing prowling under my skin was about to explode, and I needed to get myself unconscious somehow. And taking out a small army with me was just a bonus.
A few days later
Alkaios's POV
I sat in the infirmary, twiddling my thumbs. "You can't do anything for her?" I asked Ralan desperately. With Era unconscious, it was like part of my heart was ripped out. I was miserable, and I didn't know why.
"No." He replied calmly, even though he had answered the question a hundred times before. "She rendered herself unconscious with her own power, and we both know that her abilities are far stronger than mine."
I was going to go crazy in here, so I walked out... towards the beach.
I crouched by the water, and then did the stupidest thing that I'd ever done in my entire life, and I'd done a lot of stupid things. I pressed my lips to the surface of the ocean, and then whispered, "Hi, Dad."
