Chapter 2

Emilly

I can't see Cerin coming back, I thought. He continues to forget me, and I believe that, even with him saying my name, he has forgotten me. I have no idea where he goes and yet he always comes back in the same place, same wonder on his face, and same astonishment to see me. He has never asked me who I was, but I always try to hint at who I am. Life as I know it is colorful, but dull at the same time. Same recurring people, same problem with Cerin, same walk through town.
Except this last time he came... He was too jumpy. He wanted to run away when he heard something or saw the cloud block the sun. It was like he was aware of something. I had to get him to remember me. When I stopped and told him to tell me my name, a look of confusion and sheer terror fought to be noticed on his face. He had no idea.
I had no idea what to do so I told him he would lose me forever if he didn't tell me my name. I started to be drawn into that place he goes to every time he disappears. I knew I wouldn't survive without Cerin. I screamed as I was taken from his grip and pulled into the cold, dark abyss. The sounds were terrifying, the darkness chilling, and the hands that grabbed me wanted to tear me apart.
Suddenly a voice cut through the chaos and called out to me. I had to pull away. I needed to get back. Cerin called to me again and the darkness rejected me. I was thrown out into his arms and I knew everything would be okay when he told me he would never leave me.
Those warm and loving arms that surrounded me disappeared. Cerin was gone. He probably forgot me again. I didn't think that was a possibility though. I felt our connection grow stronger. My Cerin, the one who was, is coming. He remembers me and his memories are coming back to him. I needed some way to make him come back and remember more. I needed to save him from this darkness.
