Chapter 3
Cerin
I knew things were different when I heard breathing coming from my left and right. The darkness only contained the chaotic sounds and myself. The voice hadn't warned me of danger, and that worried me. It always knew when danger arrived and when it left.
Something is different. Something is wrong. Something has changed and it may be that I remember Emilly. I have only remembered what I called Empyrean when I collapsed, but I have never remembered her. I need to get to her, but I don't know how. It is impossible to gauge distance in this eternal dark. I have no idea how much I've ran or how long. I've just been moving.
The breathing is getting closer. I hear footsteps. At least that's the only way I can describe them. They sound like multiple people running with both of their feet landing fractions apart. I can only hear two things breathing though. What could it be? I have to go faster. I can't let them catch up to me. I need to get to my delightful beauty.
