Chapter 5

Luminosity

"Oh boy! This is my time to shine!" I happily shouted.
Scin always tries to make things dark and gloomy, I think he is just trying to fit into his "dark and gloomy" skin. Thing is, he is full of love and he can't take his eyes off of Empyrean whenever we follow Cerin. The little human certainly loves running until he falls into the portal! That's funny! All Scin and I need to do to travel is let me shine when we are in Stygian and let him reduce us when we are in Empyrean. That is fun as we get to see glimpses of another place beyond our worlds as we travel on the light and dark walkway.
As I begin to amble out in front of Scin and start to shine, the human shudders. I shut off my light as fast as I can, with Scin minimizing the glare more. We are too late. The human turns his head and stares through us. Seemingly judging our souls. I shivered our of the terror that was running through me. This human was staring at me with black, seemingly soulless, eyes that had seen more than its fair share of horrors.
"I have believed I have been followed by more than the sounds, but I never thought I would see you two," Cerin exclaimed.
The human's eyes lost their soulless quality and began to look like deep blue eyes that looked like the sea. His expression went from stoney to elated, and he started meandering to us. We were rooted to the spot. No human had ever discovered a sound or a traveler before. We were the first, and we were ashamed.
The darkness that connected me to my brother told me to wipe his memory. Make him forget us. I wanted to do this, but I knew enough had been changed when Cerin called out his love's name. This was only to be. If he was forced to forget, he would only remember. I decided to spare him this temporary confusion so that he would spare us the headache of this again.
"Cerin, you need to continue running. If you stop running when you are not exhausted then you may never travel to Empyrean again!" I exclaimed. Idiot I thought. He knows that we know things. That is too much! "Scin, do it." I said ominously. Scintilla used his power to make us nonexistent and reduce Cerin's cognitive thinking into nothing. This made us able to travel silently and go long distances in an instant. It also took Cerin's mind and told him he was in terrible danger. He could only think of running. We knew this was only temporary, but it would do.
Soon we arrived at our destination. The power flowed through me and I transformed from what humans would call me a flappy eared, white and brown spotted beagle to a full grown, graceful Alaskan Husky with white fur. I heard Scintilla's disappointed sigh as he shrunk to a small, dark pony. "Why does this always have to happen?" Scin questioned sadly, "At least people give you high praise when we are here. I am just that one thing that little girls have to have, I never get any rest!"
"Hush now Scin, we spent enough time in your domain anyways!" I exclaimed. He always got like this when we crossed over to Empyrean, the paradise of color and dreams.
