I sighed as I heard my parents start screaming at each other, again. I'd lost track on what they where fighting about. They'd been up fighting up all night. Something about the slutty waitress at the diner a couple of blocks from the house. Mum thinks that dad is cheating on her. He probably is. Not that I'd care. Even if he did leave, or if my mum left, it would make absolutely no impact in my life other than I would get shouted at less. I squeezed my eyes shut rubbing my hands over my face and unwillingly dragged myself out of bed.
I pulled on a pair of worn jeans and a black t-shirt. I looked in my mirror and dragged a hand through my black hair, trying to make it look at least a little presentable and left my room grabbing the dark grey jacket on my way out.
I had nearly made it out the door with my backpack when the floorboard beneath me creaked. I winced as my dad stumbled around the corner and I could tell immediately that he had been drinking.
"Where the hell are you going you stupid brat?" My dad slurred.
"You not going to say goodbye to your family, Kelly?" He reached out and grabbed my wrist tightly.
"I need to go to school." I mumbled and tried to pull away.
"You to good to say goodbye to your own parents boy?"
"Please let go." I whispered and tried to tug my arm back.
"You gonna cry boy?" He chuckled evilly. He let go of my arm and pushed and I winced as my head hit the wooden door. I squeezed my eyes shut and I listened to him walk of mumbling. I let out a shaky breath and walked out the front door, not quite ready to face another day of hell.
