Hey, readers!

So, I was reading another HTTYD fanfiction a few days ago, and I have to say, even though it ended horribly (both Toothless and Hiccup ended up dying, so I'm truly not sure why I'm looking for it in the first place; let's just say I'm weird that way) the story was extremely well written and as a grammar freak, I tend to love it when that happens. I finished the story in one go (yes, it really was that good, even with the crappy ending) and I moved on. But did I bother to add it to my Library, or even take a second to memorize the cover in case I wanted to read it again later?

OF COURSE NOT!!

Genius, Amethyst Fury. Pure genius.

So this is my dilemma. I'm looking for a HTTYD fanfiction on Wattpad, I have no idea what the cover looks like, I can't remember how I found this particular story, I don't even remember what the title is for crying out loud! All I remember is the plot. And there's no way one can fit a plot in the search bar, is there?

Hiccup is homeless, his father is abusive with a heap of anger issues on the side (sound familiar, anyone?), and he doesn't even know his father is his father until he overhears Stoick and Gobber talking about it. Stoick is imprisoned for abusing his son, although said son soon petitions the court for his father's early release. (Why? Maybe he thinks that if he's nice to Stoick, Stoick will be nice to him? Or maybe he's crazy? I don't know . . .) Toothless, Astrid, and Gobber are literally his only friends in the village, and when Toothless is eventually discovered, Stoick goes off to find the dragons' nest, though he doesn't take Toothless with him. Despite feeling anything but sentiment towards his father due to the fifteen years of crap Stoick put him through, Hiccup flies Toothless to the island, takes down the Red Death, loses his leg, yada yada yada, we know what happens. Stoick gives, in my opinion, a rather halfhearted attempt to bond with Hiccup, calling him "son" even though he pretty much cast away that right with both hands the moment he first beat up his kid.

And believe me, Hiccup makes that known. He flies off on Toothless, and Stoick goes back to bad guy mode, telling the entire village to shoot down the Night Fury on sight. (You've probably noticed by now that I'm terrible at summaries. I apologize.) The two are caught, and Stoick banishes them from Berk. At this point, Astrid has fallen for Hiccup, and she's heartbroken, of course. Hiccup disappears for two years, and when he finally comes back, he's one of Drago's long-time prisoners (during the two years of his not being on Berk, he only spent about a month of it free, if that gives you an idea. At the end of that month is when Toothless died.) and he's been beat up so badly and been kept in the dark for so long that he's actually blind—a world-rocking change for the HTTYD fandom, since no one appears to have thought of this before. Drago starts a war with Berk, and at the end of it is when Hiccup dies.

I know this is terrible, and if the mere idea of this has you thinking about tears, here's a great big honest to goodness feel-better hug, from me to you. But seriously. If this sob story sounds familiar to you, or you have this story in your Library, or even if you are the one who wrote this story, PLEASE I'M BEGGING YOU PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF DRAGONS tell me the name of this story so I can find it again!
