Simon had been sent a letter by the Hylian Guard. There were hoards of monsters swarming towards Hyrule Castle and they needed as many eligible young men as possible. Simon, being one ready to fight, immediately agreed. Elena disapproved of this idea and was not afraid to tell him.

"You can't go! There's plenty of young men to fight!" She shouted.

"I have to! Every soul matters!" Simon yelled.

"What if they make it to Ordon Village?! We'd need you!"

"That wouldn't be a 'what if,' if every man went to fight!"

"I forbid you to leave! You need to stay here for your child! For your family!"

"I'm doing this to protect my family and every other family in Hyrule!"

"What if you died?! What would Link and I do without you?!"

"Is Daddy going to die?" Link asked timidly. Moments previous, Link had walked into the doorway. He had heard everything and the only reason he had walked in was to give his parents a little drawing he had made for them. Tears filled his eyes.

Simon and Elena stopped and turned to their child.

"No, Honey. Hes just going to be gone for a while." Elena said calmly.

"I don't want Daddy to die!!!" He cried and turned around, dropping the drawing. It fluttered to the floor and Link ran out the door. He climbed down the ladder and ran through the forest as fast as he could. He climbed under a hole in the gate in front of the bridge and ran across it. AS he ran, he tripped, scraping his knees and hands. He got up and kept running. There was a hill and he tripped again, rolling down the hill and getting even more scratched up. After a short while of running the child made it to a spot that was pretty hard to notice by just looking over it. He crawled under a bush and sat down in the center of the small clearing. He cried, feeling like his life was over.

Suddenly, there was a warm golden glow as a golden wolf appeared. It curled around the crying child and Link, wiped away a tear in his eye. The Golden Wolf nudged Link, who sniffled and hugged him. The Golden Wolf licked Link's forehead and he drifted off, falling asleep.

Time passed and dusk turned to dark. Elena and Simon were worried sick, searching for Link. They had lanterns and were calling Link's name. Once they passed through the gate they looked around. "Link!" Simon called. "Link, Darling! Please come out!" Elena cried.

As his parents cried out for him, Link woke up. The Golden Wolf was gone. "Momma? Daddy?" He called out. Simon and Elena turned to Link's hiding spot as he crawled out. "Link!" They ran over and embraced their child. "What did you do?! You're all scratched up!" Elena cried out and started looking him over for more bruises and scratches. "Don't do that again!" She hugged him tighter. Simon sighed in relief. "I won't Momma." Link hugged his mother back.
