Chapter 4.

Emily arrived at home later, because she had one more class than I. She knew I’d be in the living room, so when she came home, she stormed into the living room, ready to confront me, even though I didn’t see the reason.

“Demi!” She shrieked while letting her bag fall on the floor. “What was that? During lunch?” I couldn’t figure out if she was mad or disappointed, worried or just curious. “What are you talking about?” I asked her nonchalantly, even when I knew where she was talking about. “That guy! Who is it? Are you okay?” She now turned sweet and worried while she sat next to me on the couch. “Oh, that,” I said with a nervous laugh. “I don’t know who he is,” I lied, “But don’t worry about that, I just saw him once and I was wondering who he is. “Oh okay. Anyway, have you heard about that party? The girls and I just talked about it, but since you already left…” Emily said, changing the subject. “Party?” I said while raising my eyebrows. I actually hated parties, I’d prefer staying home with friends and having a movie night or something, or just being alone. “Yeah, not upcoming Saturday, but next week, do you want to go?” “Hm, I don’t think so, I’m not really a type who goes to parties.” I chuckled when I heard my own words escaping my mouth, I was actually a boring person. “Oh, me neither,” Emily replied with a giggle, “But the girls wanted to have a movie night, want to join?” “I’ll think about it.” I said with an assuring smile. Having a movie night with the girls wouldn’t be a problem. “Okay great, I’m gonna do some homework.” She said while standing up. Just when she was about to leave the living room she turned around and asked, “Demi, what about Harry? Did he ever talked to you again?” “Never talked to him again,” I lied again. I hated to lie in front of my family and friends, but now I had to. I actually didn’t had to, I could trust her, right?

“Good, keep it like that, or else it won’t end well.”

Later that night I was doing my homework, just because I had to and because I wanted to get my mind off of the guy I talked to just a few hours ago and of what Emily said. I tried to focus on the sentences in my book, but I couldn’t. With a sigh escaping my throat I threw my book shut and leaned back against the headboard of my bed, sinking into a few pillows.

How did he know all those things about me? What did he hear about me? Who told him about me? Maybe Harry? But I’ve never seen Harry with friends at school, let alone Zac. Did Harry even had friends? Maybe not in school, but just outside of it in his ‘spare time’. And what did Emily mean with ‘Or else it won’t end well’? Did I already talk to Harry too many times?

I came back to reality when my ring tone went off to let me know a text was arrived. I grabbed the device from the nightstand and opened it.

-          “Were you talking to Malik today”

Even though the person didn’t put his or her name at the end of the sentence, I knew it was Harry.

-          “What?”

Where was he talking about? Who was ‘Malik’? I only talked to my own friends, teachers, Alice and Dean and that black haired guy named Zac, nobody else. Maybe Harry sent it to the wrong person.

-          “Did you talk to a black haired guy today?”

I was confused even more, how did he know? Did he know Zac?

-          “Oh yeah, I talked to a guy today, I don’t know his name anymore, I guess it was Zac or something.”

I had been waiting for Harry’s reply the whole night, but he never replied. Why was he always acting so weird? Or did I do something wrong? On the other side, I shouldn’t be caring about him texting me back or not, since I shouldn’t talk to him at all, like Emily said. I didn’t want to get in trouble, and to know what would happen to me if I’d keep talking to him, was the last thing I wanted, but on the other side, I wanted to know.
