Chapter 16.

Zayn’s POV

“It’s cold out there, isn’t it?” I asked to prevent an awkward silcene to grow between us. Kimberly nodded as she rubbed the palms of her hands against eachother before blowing warm air from her mouth on her skin. I watched her scanning the living room, black walls coming up in her view. “Do you want some tea, Kimberly?” I asked her, trying to hold back the smirk on my face. She looked at me when she heard me saying her name. “Yes, please.” She replied with a smile on her face. I gave her a small nod and made my way to the kitchen.

I watched the water boiling in the kettle as I heard her walking through the living room, the heels of her shoes hitting the concrete floor so now and then. I actually never used the kettle, because I just never drank tea. I took it with me when I left home, it’s my mother’s. I didn’t even ask her if I could take at least anything, and I honestly don’t know why I took a fucking kettle.

“Do you...” I started hesitantly as I made my way towards the TV after setting her cup of tea on the small table in the living room. “Do you want to watch a movie?” I turned my head to see an answer on her face as I gave her a gentle smile. Kimberly nodded, “Sure! What movies do you have?” She stood up and walked up to me, scanning the shelf with a small amount of DVD’s, I barely had movies in the house, I sometimes watched one, but then I’d watch on my laptop

. “Oh,” She chirped as she pointed to Paranomal Activity 3. “I want to see that one!” Kimberly continued as she clapped her hands. “Really?” I replied in actual disbelief before she nodded. “I like scary movies and I haven’t seen that one yet.” I raised my eyebrows with a chuckle before letting the movie play. I didn’t want to sit next to her on the couch. What if she’d be too nice for me, and what if I... get used to her? That was the last thing I wanted. I just needed her to take revenge on Harry. Before I invited Kimberly in, I was debating whether to continue my plan or not, but before I knew, she was in my flat.

“Do you think Harry will come back?” Kimberly asked as she just finished her hot cup of tea and the movie was over. She carefully put it back on the small table near the couch before she let her hands fall in her lap, looking at me with big eyes, I could clearly see the desperate in them. I almost wanted to tell her it’d be okay, but then I realized what I wanted.

“You know, Kimberly,” I said with a sigh as I stood up from the other couch, placing myself next to her. She watched my every movement as her body warmth reached me. “I,” I started, acting like I didn’t know how to tell her. “Harry isn’t the guy you think he is...” I muttered, avoiding eye contact with her. “What?” She replied, her voice full of disbelief, “What do you mean?” I shook my head and ran my hands through my hair. “I can’t explain, I can’t tell you, I’m sorry. But I just have to warn you.” I saw the confusion grow on her face, her eyebrows knitting together as she tried to read my face expression, but I gave her a blanc one. “No, tell me.” She begged, but I wouldn’t give in as I stood up. “Maybe you should go.” I knew I sounded rude, but I didn’t care at all, I knew she wanted to leave too. “Okay.” Kimberly answered and stood up, taking her now warm coat from the heater in the corner of my room. “Is it dry yet?” I asked her politely and she answered with a nod before making her way to the front door, I followed.

“Thanks for... letting me in, and the tea.” Kimberly said as she pushed her arms through the sleeves of her coat. “No problem, do we see each other again soon? I liked to hang out with you,” I said, fighting back the smirk I felt coming up. Normally I wouldn’t dare to ask a girl to hang out again, but now because I didn’t care about her and I didn’t have feelings or anything for her, I didn’t mind asking her. When Kimberly looked up after pulling the zipper of her coat up to her chin, she chuckled, yet confused about my comment.
