Haylee has always tried her best to behave. But no matter what, her father will always find a reason to hit her. "I'm going to be ok, everything's going to be ok, I can do this, I can get through life." She says though tears. She cries herself to sleep every night, no matter how hard she tries not to, she can't help it. She practices keeping her tears quiet, though. If her father heard her, she would surely get beaten. She gets beat about everything. The scars she creates for herself, the crying she tries to hold back, a glass that she didn't even break, and the creaking of the floorboards. Her father was on some serious drugs, so he found everything bad in the world Haylee's fault. But every night, Haylee would tell herself that she's just having a tough time, and that she'll be alright. And every night, she is wrong.
