Chapter 1

Hi there! So if you have read my story before I am going to be changing A LOT of stuff to it. Rereading the original all I could think was how much it made me cringe. If not great! I hope you love my new version of this story. For awhile its just gonna be redoing the chapters I wrote when I started this story but then hopefully I'll continue this story unlike before when I got busy with college. Please let me know what you think!

~Lyla's POV~

The trees pass me in a blur as I feel the twigs underneath my massive paws break and hear the wind whistle in my ears. In my wolf form when I run I'm a lot faster than any other wolves in my pack. My father happens to be the third in command and since I was born a rare white wolf is a lot stronger and faster than a typical wolf. Normally I don't use all of my speed like this but after finding out my best friends were mates I had to get away from everyone.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Lyla Ravenna I belong to the Old Hallows Pack. My friend River is Alpha Johnson's son and Wynter is Beta Ryder's daughter. Oh I also have a very annoying twin name Luka Ravenna who is also a part of our little group of misfits. With the fact our father's statuses and them being close friends we grew up together becoming the best of friends. 

All our lives I have had a small crush on River and would day dream of the day we became mates. Sadly, today on my brother and I's  18th birthday I came to find out that my fantasy would never become a reality. Wynter had been over at my house celebrating with us, and preparing for River's return. 

We haven't seen him since Wynter's 18th birthday five months ago. Since he was to be soon turning 18 at the time his father sent him away to meet the other alphas of the area for a month at a time. As he says its so he can see the different types of Alphas and prepare how he wants to run the pack. All I know is he was gone too long I couldn't wait for him to be home already. I was so excited that he was returning on my birthday since we missed his while he was away.

'Now we would finally find out if he is our mate!'  giggled Raven through our mindlink.

'I know! I hope he gets here soon I can't stand the wait anymore.' 

I felt her wolfy grin in the back on my mind as her excitement towards possibly meeting our mate finally. Ever since I first shifted when I was 16 Raven and I have gushed over the possibility of River being our mate. I may of had to convince her of the idea at first due to her fear of us getting attached before knowing the truth, but I just couldn't but hold in my heart in this moment that meeting my mate was just around the corner. 

Wynter and I were laying on the couch with each the biggest piece of cake in the world.  We had to fight hard to convince my mother we could eat it all, but luckily she finally gave in to our begging.  As we were watching our favorite show Scooby doo, Wynter suddenly shot up sniffing the air. I paused the episode and gave her a strange look,

"Wynter are you okay? What are you doing?"

"You don't smell that delectable smell of fresh rain and rosewood..." 

She stayed quiet staring at the door as it opened rapidly to reveal River with the familiar look across his face locking eyes with her.

"MATE," they said in unison as my heart shatters onto the floor.
