Chapter 26

Ja'micheal








It broke my heart to know that Riyah only remembered Tameeka and know one else. I looked down in my empty lap and stared. Stared so hard I began to reminisce. I loved this girl man, why shit had to happen like this? Tameeka sat at the edge of the bed and rubbed Ariyah's arm. "You ok honey". "Yeah, I'm fine". She said with a smile. She had a certain look in her eyes, why in the hell was she giving Tameeka that look? I un frowned my face and picked up Quincey from Tammy and left. I couldn't bare to be here. I dint even say goodbye. I strapped Quincey safely in his car seat and sped away from the hospital. It's been a long day and I needed some rest before I went in for work.

Things are going to be different around here if Riyah don't get her memory back. Nothing's wrong with change, but there's something wrong with this type of change. I laid down in the cold sheets and drifted off to sleep, before going in a deep slumber I said a prayer to God. He always hears me.




Tammy



It's the worst feeling in the world for your own child not to recognize you, the person who raised you and birthed you, unrecognized. I was jealous to see Ariyah remember Tameeka instead of me and her fiancé. What kind of special bond could they have had? Ja'micheal couldn't handle it either, he picked Quincey up from my arms and headed out the door. I sat in the room and just sat quiet. Why speak? I wasn't remembered anyway.


I just sat and listened to the two of them laugh and have a food time. The nurse came in the room and smiled. "Hello". She said. We spoke. "I see your laughing and having a great time, are you starting to remember things"? She asked. "She only remembers her, is that possible"? I asked.


She nodded her head and rocked back in her heals. "Yes m'am it is, some things she can remember some she can't, it depends, it happens with everyone it's completely normal". She said hooking up a new I.V. "Oh, and she's eligible to leave, and go home tomorrow". She assured us before walking out.


I looked over and smiled. " See Riyah, you can leave and go back home tomorrow". I said. She just looked at me. "I don't know where I live".she said sadly. "Well, you leave with your fiancé, Ja'micheal". I said. "I'd rather go home with Meeka". She said.


"Sorry babe, wish I could take you but my roommate is taking up most of my space, and besides, you need to be at home with your family". She said.


"Right". I agreed. I kissed her forehead and told her I'd be back first thing tomorrow. "By Rammy". She said joyfully. I put my head down and sighed. "It's Tammy baby, Tammy. How bout you just call me mom". I said. "Why would I do that"? She asked. I just walked out. My heart was shattered.





Tameeka




It's jacked up that I'm the only one Riyah remembers. Mrs. T and Jay looked devastated. I honestly felt bad. I sat in the very end of the bed and laughed and had a good time with my best-friend. I just can't understand how I'm the only one she remembers. But the nurse says it was completely normal.


Riyah was suggesting her coming to stay with me, since I'm the only one she remembered. The idea was ok, but I had a lot of things to do and I had little to no space in my small apartment complex, I don't know if I'd have room for her.



I finally convinced her that going home to her fiancé and baby was the best thing she could do. She was disappointed but she agreed. I kissed her forehead goodbye and said I'd see her tomorrow.






Ariyah *next day*





The nurse, Jenny , said I could go home today. I was excited, scared and nervous. I didn't know what to expect. Ja'micheal came and picked me up from the hospital. We drove home, and he tried making conversation, I just stared out the window and tried remembering but I couldn't.



It started to become a depression. I finally made it to a nicely ruby bricked hike well decorated on the outside, so I couldn't wait to see what awaited me in the inside.


I followed behind Ja'micheal holding the baby. "Woooow". I said in awe. My home was beautiful, it wasn't all that but it was comfortable, you could say. "Where's my room"? I asked him. He grabbed my hand and led me down the hall way. "Here's our room". He said. It was amazing.

It's been 4 long weeks, and Ariyah doesn't remember a thing. I was depressed. All she did was go out with Tameeka. We were supposed to get married in less then a month, but how was that gone happen if she don't remember shit.


I laid in the couch and flipped through the channels. Riyah came around the corner and held her head. "You ok"? I asked. "Yeah, baby can you get Quincey up so I can give him a bath". She said.

"Wait what"? I asked confused. "What? Ja'micheal stop playing and go get Quincey". She said. "Riyah you got your memory back"? "Yeah". She said nonchalantly. "When"? I asked. "Oh yeah this morning, I forgot to tell you".
I smiled but I was pissed at the same time. Why in the hell would she wait to tell me that ?
