Seven

We boarded the small jet, only big enough for the six of us and the pilot. Each of us took our seat and settled down, knowing we had a long flight ahead of us.

Kevin sat across from Devon with a small table between the two of them. Seth sat the same way across from Owen and I sat across from Mark.

All the boys soon rested their heads against the windows or in some fashion to sleep. I closed my eyes just as they had but I myself never got there. My mind was flooded with way too many thoughts to focus on one or drift into a peaceful sleep for that matter.

As the sun rose in the morning, sending vibrant colors through the windows, everyone began to stir. I watched each boy wake up, as I had just been sitting there watching the night sky as we flew. Once everyone was fully awake, it was very quiet. That was until Owen couldn't help it anymore and had to stand from his resting place and go to the rest room towards the front of the plane, between us and the pilot.

I looked across the isle and saw Seth just staring out the window, so I took my change to go and release all that had been on my mind. I stood and made my way to wear Owen was previously seated.

Seth looked at me for a moment and grinned then went back to his sight seeing. No one else was paying much attention to me either, so I took a deep breath and began speaking.

"Seth," I said. He turned his attention back to me with an expression asking "what?".

"Are we sure about this?" I questioned. I could see Mark out of the corner of my eye glance over at me.

"What are you talking about?" Seth laughed now fully turned towards me with curiosity.

This had been on my mind for quite some time now and I thought it would be on the boys' minds as well but Seth's unknowing told me otherwise.

"Do you really think we are ready for a mission like this?" I asked only to have the boy before me ruffle his eye brows in confusion.

"Sam," he said, "we are the best team at base. Even though some of the older teams like to look down on us just cause we are a bit younger then them but I say-"

"Seth," I spoke up causing him to stop wide eyed and stare at me.

"Sorry," He sighed. There was a slight pause when I looked out the window with worry. I don't think he was clearly getting the fact that this mission was actually scaring me. "We'll do fine Sam." He leaned forward to me placing his hand on my knee, "just like we always do."

"But this isn't just another mission," I raised my voice a bit, "this guy, this Clark Brookes, knows how we work. He himself has worked in the same way we are. He'll be expecting it. If we don't do our absolute best then-"

"We will."

"You don't know that Seth," I slowly calmed myself and my voice lowered, "you don't know that."

Things were a bit awkward as Owen exited the restroom. Everyone was silent now and no one was looking at me anyone. They either stared at the floor or the scenery outside of the jet.

Owen made his way over to were I was seated and I turned my full attention up to him apologizing and moving back to my seat.

The rest of the ride there was quiet and no one dared to say another word. Part of me thought, hoped, they were dwelling on what I had just said. Actually thinking about it and knowing that I am absolutely right. Preparing themselves for the worst to come.

When we finally landed everyone was in costume. Mark had this janitor uniform on while Devon wore a white apron. Kevin was dressed a bit nicer since he would be stationed at the front desk. Seth and I wore matching outfits basically. I had a dress on that was a navy blue with white along the bottom. Seth had on a shirt the same color and khaki shorts. Him and I carried luggage into the hotel, and to make things see more realistic, the three with so called 'jobs' there didn't.

Owen was a bit different from the rest of us. He was dressed in his normal apparel which consisted of a short sleeve black T-shirt and blue jeans. I could see from where I stood that he was already a bit sweaty. He was nervous and I didn't blame him, so was I.

We all walked off of he jet and quickly walked our separate ways so that it wouldn't be suspicious when we all entered the hotel together. Seth and I walked to the front desk telling him our names and getting our room key. The two of us then found our way to our suite, threw our bags to the side once inside, and plopped down on the bed.

Seth laid on his back running his hands through his hair and I sat at the foot of the bed releasing the perfect posture I had been holding, allowing my shoulders to slouch over in a way that was much more comfortable to me.

"Well we made it in," Seth said with a slight laugh. He was trying to be funny but I rolled my eyes.

"Yeah," I stated, "that was the easy part." Seth straightened up, propping himself up on his elbow. I turned myself to see him better just twisting at my waist.

"Ok Ms. Attitude," Seth said. My expression didn't change and the truth is as long as I've known Seth and he's known me, he would be more surprised if I didn't have an attitude. So his statement didn't faze me. "I'm going to shower unless you'd like one?"

I shook my head remembering how I'd showered this morning before we boarded the jet plane.

"Then I'm going to shower then we should get some sleep. Job starts tomorrow," Seth pulled himself up from the bed grabbing a pair of shorts from his bag and heading to the bathroom closing the door behind him.

The room got quiet after that and for the first time sense we had arrived I looked around the room. It was lovely. The perfect honeymoon suite. The walls were a pretty cream color. And the floor was cushioned with soft blue carpet.

There was no furniture in the room except for a small table in the corner of the room, and a night stand with a small lamp on it on either side of the single queen sized bed.

That's when it hit me. No couch, one bed... Oh boy. Now the boys and I had shared a single room before and there was no problem. But the rooms before had been more of a small space that we discovered or our van. And we all were forced to sleep close on top of whatever padding we could find using only each other's body heat for warmth. This was different; a nice comfortable bed with only the two of us. But we are professionals, we can handle this.

Seth exited the bathroom a short time later, steam flowing from it giving a new warmth to the room. He wore the shorts he had previously grabbed and his chest was bare revealing his abs and many battle scars. His hair still appeared wet but he'd dried it enough with the towel so that it didn't drip.

I'd already changed into my pjs, which consisted of a purple tank and some green shorts, by the time Seth came out and claimed my side of the bed.

I walked into the bathroom while Seth settled into the bed. I took a towel wiping the fog off the mirror. The smaller room smelt of hotel soap and hot steam. I looked into the mirror at my thin long hair which I had pulled into a pony tail. I splashed my face with water a few times scrubbing off the little makeup I wore. I then took my contacts out which I was so happy to have to wear... and put my large black rimmed glasses on. I'm not blind or anything I can see without them but when doing missions such as these where I need to spot people from a distance they are kind of necessary.

Once finished I exited the bathroom and headed straight for the bed. I pulled the sheets back and carefully crawled under them so that I did not disturb Seth who was already comfortably settled into the bed, his lamp off and eyes shut. I reached over turning the only light left in the room off and cuddled down on my side facing away from the boy next to me.

By then I was so overcome with tiredness that I didn't care about the sleeping arrangements anymore and quickly slipped off into a peaceful slumber.
