XXX The Killer XXX

I sit in my secret hideout and laugh. No one has a clue. Not Alex, not the police, and certainly not that stupid, nosey detective, Samantha Colt. No one will ever solve that girl's murder. I think, savoring the victory.

As I look around the room, I realize how brilliant I am. Once again, no one suspects me. I have trophies from all of my murders, not like anyone would know. Even if someone happened to stumble upon this place, they would never put two-and-two together. None of the trophies were that damning, especially since not all my crimes have been realized. Out of the murders I had committed, only three had been ruled a murder and investigated. The others had been ruled as accidental or not important enough to investigate.

When I murdered Mr. and Mrs. Chandler, I prepared for months. I even waited for reasons for them to be murdered to arise. Of course, with Mr. Chandler being a criminal defence lawyer who seriously messed up, it did not take long for enemies to appear. I spent my free time practicing my technique on medical dolls and a couple of homeless beggars, who no one even noticed went missing. On the night of the murder, I knew I would have to make their deaths fast, so no one in their house would have a chance to hear them scream, so I sliced their throats first, and then cut out their tongues. Their deaths were blamed on career criminals who had a beef with Mr. Chandler. I was never a suspect.

And Alex's friend, Benjamin? Well, his death was never an accident. Benjamin was not a heavy drinker, and everyone knew that he could not hold his liquor, so I used that to my advantage. One night, when I knew they were drinking, so I spiked his drink. It had not been hard to procure Oxycontin or Ativan, and I had even added a sleeping pill or two in the mix. Between that and the fact that Benjamin was a light-weight, his car accident was ruled a tragic accident. The wreck was so horrific, no one even noticed that two of the tires were almost flat. There was no way Benjamin was coming out of that alive. The weather even helped, as the roads were slippery from the sleet and it was dark.

As for Holly, I did not have a way to cover up her murder. She did not have any real enemies, just the typical ex-friends and boyfriends. Her family was not wealthy, and her parents both had menial jobs, a teacher and nurse, so I could not make it seem like family enemies killed her. Since Alex was proposing to her this weekend and planning on asking her to move in, I did not have the luxury of time to cause her to have an "accident". Shame she didn't have a food allergy, I think, studying the blade of my knife. Then she could have died nice and easy, of anafalactic shock. No murder investigation, no mess. But, no, she had to be perfectly healthy and allergic to nothing. I knew if I had waited until after this weekend, it would have been a lot harder to get rid of the bitch. Alex rarely left her side as it was, but if she had been able to move in with him, I would have never had the chance to catch her alone. I had to make do with what I had.

Honestly, I was hoping the police would waste their precious time investigating her obsessed ex-boyfriend, Tyler, who had been sending gifts and love letters to her office. In all honesty, he is the best known suspect. I think as I gleefully trace the knife's edge. The crazy, obsessed ex, who could not stand being turned away by the girl he loves, murders her in a rage. The sexual way I chose to end her life should encourage the theory, or at least keep the spotlight away from me.

I glance at my watch. Ah, it's nearing dinner-time. I must get going before I miss my business dinner. Carefully, I place my gorgeous, sharp knife in it case and slide it into the hidden compartment in the wall, and place the artwork back on the wall. They will have a hard time finding the murderer if they can't find the weapon, I grin as I walk out of the room, shutting the door firmly behind me.
