We approached the town carefully as we swam towards the bright shops and houses.

I looked up above us at the setting sun that lit up the whole sea. Streaks of purple and pink colored the rippling waters.

I sighed happily. The ocean is a truly beautiful place.

As we swam closer, I began to see mer with all kinds of tails and fins. They were bustling about as they swam down the streets.

We went to the edge of the town and hid next to a dimly lit house.

"There're so many shops!" I squealed and did a little twirl.

"I can see a cake shop!" Erza's eyes formed hearts as she pointed towards a bright pink shop with a cherry on top.

"Is that a library?!" Levy said. "Can I go get a book to read?"

Gray rolled his eyes as he swam in behind us. "They're just shops."

Suddenly, we caught a glimpse of 2 palace guards marching (A/N can mermaids march??) down the street towards us.

"Get down!" Gray hissed, as he swam to hide behind a crumbling stone pillar.

Erza grabbed me and Levy's arms as she pulled us down towards Gray.

"What are they doing here??" Erza asked, peeking to the side of the stone structure.

"I don't know, but if they catch us, we're so dead. Literally."

"We can't let them see us! My father will punish me for not staying in my room!" Lucy panicked, shaking her head wildly.

"It's okay Lu, we won't let them see us." Levy said, as she stroked Lucy's golden locks.

The royal guards passed by their hiding spot, their oh so precious pillar, without even a glance.

Well, that was until Gray sneezed.

"Did you hear that?" Palace guard 1 asked palace guard 2.

"Hear what? Are you going cuckoo in your brain of sea sludge?" The 2 guard scoffed. I realized with a start that he had pink colored hair! Gray snickered next to me.

"I swear I just heard a sneeze of some sorts coming from back there," the 1 guard said.

"There's nothing there sheesh. We've already scouted the town twice and we haven't seen a single thing," the 2 guard said while rolling his eyes.

The 2 guard flicked his tail dismissively and continued down the street. The 1 guard still looked suspicious as he came closer and closer to our hiding place.

Levy and I shut our eyes tight and held on to each other. Please don't find us please I prayed silently.

The guard swam closer and closer, his cropped dark gray fin swishing back and forth. His long unruly black hair twisted down his back. He had metal piercings all over his face!

I cringed at the thought of having multiple holes on my face. We all held our breath as the guard reached the pillar.

"Gajeel! We don't have time to waste!" The other guard called over his shoulder. "We still have to make 2 more rounds!"
