Chapter 5

"I can't wait to be an apprentice!" Rainbowkit exclaimed. A few moons had passed since she and Spiritkit had joined ThunderClan and they were both six moons old now.

"I hope Firestar has the meeting sometime in the next few days! I'm honestly getting bored of the name 'Spiritkit' and want to be 'Spiritpaw' now." Spiritkit complained

"Hey, I have an idea! Why don't we pretend to be apprentice?" Rainbowkit thought "We can get prey for Berryshine and Silvereyes, and pretend to do other apprentice things!"

"Well as long as you two are pretending to be apprentices, can you get rid of the twigs?" Berryshine looked around at tiny twigs in the moss beddings and around to edges of the nursery

"Sure thing, mom!" Spiritkit replied before Rainbowkit could say anything

Berryshine laughed a little "I like that you two are getting more comfortable with calling me 'mom' but you can still call me Berryshine if you want."

"No mom we love you too much now not to call you mom." Rainbowkit went over to Berryshine and pawed at her tail playfully

"Well, I guess-" she broke off in laughter as Spiritkit hopped on her, and start purring "You two are so much fun, I'm really going to miss you once you become apprentices." she smiled as they went to get prey for her and Silvereyes. Even though they weren't her kits she was still proud of what they were becoming

Spiritkit brought a thrush for Silvereyes and Rainbowkit struggled to pull a mouse across the clearing "I'm worried she's not growing strong enough." Silvereyes said to Berryshine, concern in her eyes.

A yowl came from outside "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highrock for a clan meeting!"

When all the cats had come out of their dens into the clearing Firestar began talking again. "Today we have two warrior ceremonies as well as two apprentice ceremonies." he signaled for Puddlepaw and Silentpaw to come out of the crowd, and Puddlepaw to step up first. "I, Firestar, leader of ThunderClan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice. She has trained hard to understand the ways of your noble code, and I commend her to you as a warrior in her turn." he paused for a moment before going on "Puddlepaw, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your clan, even at the cost of your life?" 

Puddlepaw hesitated for a moment then said "I do."

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Puddlepaw, from this moment you will be known as Puddleheart. StarClan honors your joy and enthusiasm, and we welcome you as a full warrior of ThunderClan." Firestar finished. Puddleheart then licked her shoulder, and everyone started chantin her new warrior name. When the sound had died down, Firestar continued on to Silentpaw.
