I ran swiftly through the trees, avoiding all eyes of the creatures in their base. After the invasion, these bastards came down and started setting up bases in select areas, to keep the few humans under their watchful eyes. I knew there was little time, so I gripped my javelin and dove in. Turrets came out of the ground in seconds, but didn't shoot. The creatures reacted too slowly and I stabbed the first one through it's skull. The other two quickly reached to their sides, but I managed to get them both by shoving the javelin through the side of the right creatures' head, and drilled the end into the other creatures' head. Picking up their weapons, I realized these must have been a scouting group- as those only travel in trios -but why would they scout already conquered areas? Almost every area set foot in was already territory of these monsters, so what would explain the new scouts?
*fast forward*
A foul aroma filled the air. Few dared venture closer, but as I had grown used to the stench, I ran right into the waste. Geysers erupted everywhere, and in the midst of it all I ducked into a crevice and crawled into the cave. Thinking about nothing in particular, a thought suddenly made its way into my head. What if there are groups rebelling against the creatures' control? It seemed like a viable plan, but with such a small population of humans left, there was no chance any groups could even survive long enough. Ignoring that, I almost turned the corner of one of the passageways when I saw someone around the bend. I sat silent, carefully moving my hand towards my blowpipe. Inserting a drug tipped dart, I made a quick turn and blew the dart into the person's neck. The girl yelped and turned around, but I hid in another corridor. She yawned and I made my way towards her. She looked at me with a groggy face, and fell over. Any other male human would take advantage of this situation, but I held her in my arms and continued further down.
