"No, no, no, no." I shook my head and put my thumb and pointer finger in between my eyes.
All the ladies put their heads down in shame and I felt really bad. It not personal, it's just that none of them seemed right. Then again now a days nothing seems right with my dad and all. I sigh a big sigh then I lift up my left arm and place it on the back of my brunet haired neck as I point to the exit of the palace.
"Prince Cade."
"Yes?" I look up to see the wedding planner, lord Gunner walking towards me.
"Prince Cade that was the 15th batch of young women that you've cycled through like trash." He looked very mad with his gray hairs all pointing in different directions.
"Well I'm sorry but they all just... Don't appeal to me." I sigh again.
"Your prince I don't think you know what you want yet." Lord Gunner looks at me like I am supposed to know what he's saying.
"What do you mean?"
"Oh nothing it's just a thought, I will find another batch of women." He hurriedly walks off.
Then a scent touched my nose. The smell was like baked bread on the morning being brought up to your room. Freshly made for you. It was an amazing scent and I knew it could only come from one person.
The kitchen was big compared to some of the other rooms in the castle. With two giant sized brick fireplaces to cook food and pots and pans hooked to the walls. We had iron hooks on the walls to keep everything accessible for everyone.
Since dinner was to start soon people were running around making sure everything was in order. Pastries and all sorts of kinds of breads were laying out to be placed on the table. I nodded to the head chef and then saw the man I was looking for.
Noah Anderson was a good kitchen boy and liked to mess around with the ingredients sometimes. He had blonde hair from all his working in the fields before he came to us. That also meant he was very strong, most the time he carried the big bags of flower for all the pastries and stuff.
As I walked up to him he was working with his back to me. I start to sneak to try to scare him. As I get closer, maybe 2-3 feet Noah looks up.
"You are such a bad sneaker!" Noah quickly turns around and tackles me.
We both lay on the ground laughing. It was maybe minutes after that, that we both got up and started actually talking.
"Prince Cade, what are you doing down here?" Noah asks.
"Well I smelled something really good coming from here and knew that you were the only person who could make the whole castle smell like baked bread." I put my hand on his shoulder and smile.
"Oh stop Prince Cade. It's only the bakers actually baking something." He blushes.
We both laugh at his joke. I could see the lights in his eyes that always meant he was having a good time and not faking it. I'm glad that I could do that to a person, even if it's only him.
"So Noah what's been cooking?"
"Well you know food."
"My goodness." I start to laugh again.
"No actually it's going to be fish tonight."
"Ah that's going to be delicious as always, if you have a hand in making it." Noah blushes again.
"Hey want to go in a horse ride after dinner?" I ask Noah.
"I'm sorry I can't." He looks down ashamed.
I knew exactly why. Noah came from the poorer side of the country of Dountry meaning that he always had to work to be able to pay for the food on the table. His mother works as well but is getting in her older and ages and can't do as much. For a father, we'll Noah never really had a father figure in his life. His actual father left his mother when he figured out that she was with a child.
When Noah was 16 he came to the castle to work part time and then go to the fields. That was 2 years ago. Now he works full time as an assistant chef so I guess you could say that he really made it up the ladder.
Anyway, he had to make food for his 6 other siblings who his mother adopted from the village's orphan house. But Noah treats all of them as if they were his own flesh and blood.
"Well, how about I come see all of the family tonight then?"
"Really?" He looks up, almost surprised.
"Yes, I have no other plans and they haven't seen me in while. I should pay them a visit anyway."
"Ooh this is going to be fun!" Noah has a giant smile on his face.
"I'll see you guys after dinner then?" I ask.
"Yes." He smiles.
"Okay, see you then." I start up the stairs.
"Hey wait!" Noah grabs my arm.
"Yes?"
"Well I know that your having a hard time with all of the you know, kingdom and stuff, so what I'm saying is that if you ever need to come down and talk all the chefs and me will be happy to help as much as we can." He looks at me and puts a tiny smile on his face.
I don't know why but I'm very grateful that he said that. It's nice to know that somebody is on my side in all of this.
"Thanks Noah, I'll really take that for consideration." I walk up the rest of the stairs.
The dinner bells were to be ringing soon so I decided to go up to my room for a quick change into one of my more fancier outfit of red velvet top with a red cape lined with gray wolf fur. My pants were brown leather with two pockets and a sword holder.
I slip on my leather boots and grab my sword put it on the sword holder on my pants and make my way down to dinner right as the bell rings.
