Chapter 11

Cade's POV

"You're expecting me to kill the king?" I ask Valencia.

"No, I'll kill the king. I just need you to take him to his bed chambers, that way I can kill him without anyone noticing." Valencia shrugs her shoulders.

"You know that if anyone heard us, even Cade will be objected to treason and immediately executed." Noah looks at Valencia and I.

"Yes which is why we are down here, Cade will you go get Lily, she should still be in my bed chambers or in one of my rooms." Valencia say and I nod before leaving the room.

Valencia's room was up a stair way and to the left. Once I got there I called for Lily hearing footsteps.

"Lily is that you?" I call.

"Yes, what happened?" She comes out from the outside of the doorframe.

"Valencia, Noah, and I have a plan. Valencia said she wanted you down there so she could discuss it with you too." I explain.

"Okay I'll head down now." She leaves.

After awhile I leave making sure no one thought we left together. But my father stops me and pushes me back in Valencia's room. I can't tell what kind of face he's making, it's mixture of a lot.

"My son." The Kings says.

"Father what are you doing?" I ask.

"Well I wanted to ask you about your future wife!" He laughs. "She's quite the interesting person."

"Yes I heard." I give him a glare.

"Well I was thinking you know, maybe she's not the right right person for you." He sighs. "Of course we'd still keep her at the castle."

I was confused. The Kings shifts his body. Almost nervously. What was he trying to say? Was he going to uplift his bargain?

"I am confused father, what are you meaning?" I ask.

"Well you know that I have been looking for a queen, and..." I already knew what was going happen.

"You want to marry Valencia?" I gave him a dirty look.

"Well that was the plan..." He couldn't finish before I cut him off.

"What plan?!" I yell.

"Well in the beginning she was for you, but then I saw her and you must know the feeling son. To be in love?" He has pleading eyes, the fact they are blue helps none.

"Father this isn't right." I say. "I heard what you tried to do to her."

"Son, would do you anything for the one you love?"

I thought about this, sadly it was true. I was willing to kill my own father standing before me for Noah. But did that make our situations the same? No I don't think so.

"Father, I would do anything for the one I love but trying to get something from them without their consent, that's wrong." I glare at him.

"Obviously you don't understand." The king sighs.

"I do understand father but if you marry her you're are just putting her in a jail cell she can't get out of. Is that what you want?"

"It's worth getting what I want." The king walks away and out the door.

I stood there for a second. I had to register what my father was going to do. My father, the king, was going to marry Valencia. And there was nothing I could do about it other than to kill him.

I run to the infirmary. I don't know if I should tell Valencia, she was going to kill him anyway. Entering the infirmary, everyone stared at me with worry.

"Where were you?!" Noah yells.

"I am sorry, my father stopped me and we talked about a few things." I sounded nervous, it was in my voice.

Valencia looks at me, so does Lily. It was if they could read my mind. I turn to get more I've for Noah. Lily walks up to me.

"I could tell it was about Valencia." She sighs.

I pause. How did she know? Did she hear our conversation?

"But I figured that if it was you would've told her, I am not here to pressure you. But if it is about the one I love you should tell her." Lily looks at me.

I looked back at her. All she wanted was for Valencia to be safe. The only problem was that she wasn't.

"Lily, you have to keep a secret." I sigh and she shakes her head. "My father is planning on marrying Valencia."

Lily's eyes go big and round. She opens her mouth to argue but nothing comes out. I fill more ice in the pouch.

"Don't worry Lily, I'll do everything in my power to stop him."

"But what if it's not enough?" She asks calmly and sighs.

"I don't know." I look down ashamed.

"It's okay Cade. We will just have to hope the plan works."

"What if it doesn't? What if the king figures everyone out and we are forced to be apart. While Valencia and my father get married?" I sigh. "What if there's no happy ending for us?"

"Cade you can't think like that." Lily puts her hand through her bright red hair. "You have to think positive, even though the road is dark doesn't mean the way out isn't bright."

I thought about that. Even though all of our love is wrong, doesn't mean we can't live in harmony. Lily and Valencia will go on living together back at their home safe and sound. While Noah and I will be crowned the kings of Dountry. Kings? Was I ready be a king? Was Noah?

"I am just not sure that everything will en okay in the end, even if our plan works."

"I am sure it will, you want to know why? Because we will all have what we want. And then we can celebrate like the kings and queens we are." She smiles.

I had to smile. Lily was a good person. She deserved everything she ever wanted. I was willing to help Valencia and her get the ending they both wanted. And the one Noah and I need.
