After the infirmary I told Noah that I would meet him at his house. I went up to my room to pack some clothes to stay the night. However a clerk decided that I had other plans.
"Prince Cade of Dountry, your father requests to see you." The servant maid asks.
"I am going out to the village, I will see him tomorrow." I don't even look up.
"The King was afraid of that, however he said that all means necessary to get you there." I look up at the clerk and see 2 large men in the doorway. "Get the prince and bring him to the king."
The men grab me and start walking. I yell for them to let me go but they didn't. My father was going to pay for this, big time. We reached the giant doors into my fathers chambers. He was in his office writing a letter.
"Sir, we brought the Prince." One of the men say.
"Good, you can leave now." The soldiers leave me on the ground.
I get up and glare at my father. He doesn't seem to notice. In fact he just goes back to writing his letter as if all is normal.
"Father why did you bring me here?" I ask.
"Well I wanted to see you, you are my son after all." He says not looking up.
"Well after what you did to my friend I hardly consider you my father." I glare and he looks up.
"That kitchen boy, he came here a few years ago, yes?"
"Yes."
"He's strange. I've went down to the kitchens before and seen that he's not like the other chefs."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean that you should stay away from him."
"But he's my friend!"
"Yes, but I am your father and if you don't want him to get fired you should stay away from him."
"You wouldn't dare!"
"I would."
"But father..."
"No, you will stay away from him and start looking for a wife."
"I have been looking."
"Then you will look harder. That young woman sitting next to you will be your bride."
"No father!"
"Yes son, you will not argue with me!"
"No I won't let you do this to me! Maybe this is why my mother left you!" I knew I hit a soft spot.
"No, you don't understand. She didn't leave me because of who I am. She left me because of who you were going to be, a king. She didn't want any of her children to rule over a country. So really it was all your fault she left me. Left us."
"No I will not marry until I find someone."
"What if that's not your choice?"
"I will make it my choice." I sigh. "Now if you would excuse me I have somewhere to be."
And with that I had left his chambers. I never want to speak with him again. I finish packing my leather bag and order for a horse. I climb aboard and start going towards the village.
Getting near Noah's house I jumped off my horse and tide him up near some grass. Then I walk over and knock on the door. Anthony opens the door and instantly smiles.
"Noah! The Prince is here!"
Noah comes near the door and waves me in. Noah's house was small, 3 bedrooms, a kitchen, and one out house. Exterior was made out of wood but there was a comfy rug. Mrs. Anderson walks into the room. Then I noticed something instantly.
The first thing that showed was her swollen pregnant belly. I look at Noah again, I could tell he was not happy. Then showed a man I have never met. Mrs. Anderson walks up and gives me a hug.
"Prince Cade, it's been too long." She smiles and I return it. "Oh and this is Chester, my husband."
I shake his hand. Noah didn't like him, I could already tell. Then little Clarissa came up and grabbed my leg. I picked her up and put her on my shoulders.
"Hey your getting so big, I remember when you were just a little babe." She giggles and I put her down.
I look over at Noah and see him waving me over. I walk over and hear him whisper in my ear.
"Let's get out of here." We exit through the back door.
"So, why did you come late?" Noah looks at me curiously.
"My father took me to his chambers and talked to me about getting a spouse."
"Bet that wasn't a very good conversation." We start walking.
"No, let's just put it this way. I never want to speak to that man again."
"Well he is your father, you're going to have to talk to him sometime."
"Not unless he takes away the marriage proposal on that girl I was sitting by at the dining table tonight."
"Prince Cade..." I quickly stop him.
"Noah we are friends, have been for a long time. Please stop calling me Prince Cade, it's just Cade. Okay?"
"Okay, I'd rather call you Cade anyway." He smiles.
After that we just walk around for a couple of hours, just us. It was nice. Though I was still wandering about why he was so distant in the infirmary.
"Noah, what were you upset about in the infirmary?"
"Oh nothing."
"You're hiding something."
"No, I just think it's dumb that you're not allowed to love whoever you want. Love is a choice, and your love is not your father's choice." He sighs. "It just irritates me, a lot."
There was a true sadness in his voice. You could just hear it in the way he says those words. Almost as if, nevermind.
