Chapter 14

Cade's POV

"We have really messed up now." Lily sighs.

"I've got to go up there, my father will take this golden chance." I start to walk out.

"Maybe we should give her space Cade." Noah insists.

"No my father will have the guards tell him that she is alone and he will propose. It's just how my father works." I leave the infirmary.

Valencia's room was not far. Out of the corner of my eye I see my father go into her room and I start to run. He can't do this to her I won't let him. I reach to try door only to have it locked. I use my fist to knock hardly on door. They don't seem to hear.

I don't hear her scream or anything. In fact I can't hear anything coming from Valencia's room. Then I run over to try her living room door. It's unlocked! I open the door and try the one to her bed chambers from here. It opens to a horrible sight.

My father is down on one knee, he has a ring in his hand. I was too late. Valencia looks over at me, terrified.

"Cade..." Valencia says.

"Cade what are you doing here?!" My father yells.

"I can't let you do this to her! She doesn't love you!" I yell.

"You don't know that!" My father walks towards me.

"I do know that because she is in love with someone else!" I look over to Valencia, she looks paralyzed.

"Who, you?!" My father is mad now.

"No, me." Lily walks into the room.

"Lily no!" Valencia says.

"What?!" The king looks back to Valencia.

Valencia looks down in shame. I will never know why though. Why would you be ashamed of who you love?

"My darling Valencia is this true?" My father says.

There was a true look of pain in his eyes. As if he was actually hurt by these words. I wanted to kill him right here right now, but I felt as if I couldn't for some reason.

"Don't you call her that! The only who can is me!" Lily is furious.

"What happens if I marry you?" Valencia looks up at my father as she asks him.

"Well you become my wife." He laughs a little.

"Valencia don't do it." I tell her.

"Will you leave t-them alone? Cade, Noah, and Lily?" She trembles as she speaks.

"Yes, definitely." My father speaks without flaw.

"Promise?"

"It will be in the marriage papers." My father looks at her.

"Valencia don't do this!!!!" Lily screams.

My blood was boiling. What was Valencia thinking? Why was she doing this to herself? She knew that she was going to be thrown into a internal prison, but yet she as doing is a favor. Even after we betrayed her.

"I will marry you my king, and make you my husband." My father eyes light up.

"No!!" Lily sprints towards her.

Their lips crash against each other and my father looks furious. He grabs his sword and plunges it through Lily. She backs away in pain and falls to the floor. Valencia looks horrified as Lily crumbles in pain.

I run at my father with sword in my hand. He turns around quickly though and we fight. Slashes and jabs blocked and dodged. This was no practice, this was life or death. And only one can win. Luckily I have had years of practice but my father has had more.

"Son you wouldn't want to do your father any harm would you?" The king asked mockingly.

"Depends, and in this situation I do!" I try to slash him but it misses.

We went back and forth and back and forth trying to get something. Finally I twisted my sword out of his hand and it went flying across the room. Then taking both hands I jabbed my sword into his heart.

He yells in pain. Blood seeps from the wound. I yank my sword out and he screams bloody murder. Doubling over in extreme hurt. Soon he crinkles into his death. His skin turns a deathly gray and I step over him.

I walk over to Valencia holding Lily, whispering things in her ear. I get down on my knees. Lily isn't going to make it and we both know that.

"Valencia..." I start.

"No I don't want you to speak while she is on her death bed." Valencia looks up at me with a glare.

How was this my fault? Lily announced herself in, I had nothing to do with it. So we just sit there waiting for Lily to pass.

"Valencia I want to tell you something." Lily whispers.

"What is it sweetie?"

"I love you."

"I love you too, always will." A single tear rolls down both their faces.

Lily's eyes roll back into her head and she is gone. Her skin turns gray and feels lifeless.

Valencia's POV

She's dead. My whole world gone, and there was nothing I could do. I want to scream at the world for letting this happen to her. The most beautiful thing I have ever seen or touched is gone and out of my reach.

"No!! My love come back to me!! Don't leave me now!!" I scream.

Tears are like a waterfall on my face and land on Lily's precious body. I kiss her forehead and let her down on the floor. She didn't deserve me. She was too good for this world and so she was taken away.

I look at Cade and he looks back up at me. I knew we were going to have a funeral to go to soon. I wasn't looking forward to it.
