I walked back into the annex building, walking down the halls of my job station. I sighed as I approached my desk, taking a seat with my hand latched onto the arm rest, suddenly my boss Latasha walked up.

"So how'd your first notice go" she asked as she took a seat in front of me. I looking at her tiredly, exhaling out softly.

"Latasha.. he's out of work, and takes care of his daughter by himself.. cut him some slack" she scoffed and got up walking to her desk. Listening to her heels click clack against the marble material floor, I rolled my eyes.

"Miracle.. he's a month behind" she stressed. "Yeah, but he has a kid he takes care of alone" I argued. "Well isn't that just sad" she sassed.

"You're wrong and you know it" I now sat up straight in my seat, looking through my large stack of paperwork.

"Whatever, if he doesn't get that money by the week, I'm kicking his ass out" I rolled my eyes once more, as I pulled up my files, tapping my foot.

"I'm going on lunch, you coming with?" She asked as she scrambled to her purse, slinging it over her shoulder. "No thank you, but what's this guy's name?"

"Christopher.. Christopher Brown. Why?" I shook my head as my fingers danced around on my desktop keyboard, keeping my focus onto the screen.

"Okay.. I'll be back in a hour" I just nodded, I kept my focus onto the monitor until I saw her shiny ruby red car speed off. I then fell into the back of my computer chair, blowing out a breath of exhaustion.

"What a day" I breathed out.

"yes but-.. I'm aware b-.. helllo? helllo?" I took the phone from my ear to see the plain black home screen. "Fuck!" I yelled out of frustration, then I looked at Royalty as she stared at me with fear as she froze with her teddy bear.

I sighed deeply and sat her on my lap, leaning down kissing her forehead softly. "Daddy's sorry for yelling and saying bad words, but I'm just trying to give you a better life.. that's all"

She just continued to play with her teddy bear, giggling that same angelic giggle she always does.

My worst fear is my daughter seeing her father not provide. I'm pretty sure when she's older and I explain things to her a bit more.. she'll understand.. right?

"Okay princess.. time for bed" she looked up at me while I held her in my embrace, her heartbeat steady and peaceful.

Once we approached her room, she started to squirm in my arms, I raised an eyebrow as her grip around my neck got tighter.

"What's wrong" I ask like she was gonna answer me, instead she poked out her bottom lip and hugged my face.

I chuckled as I turned on my heels heading to my room, patting her back gently.

laying her down on her back, as she cuddled her teddy bear into her chest, I climbed in beside her, turning off the light.

I felt her small body crawl onto my chest, pushing her teddy bear in the crook of her neck, I wrapped my arm around her tiny torso.

the best blessing God has given throughout my 27 years of life, my daughter.

"I'm home!" I yelled out as my husband appeared from upstairs with our 5 year old daughter in his arms. "Mommy!" She squealed. A smiled crept across my lips.

"Hey babies" I cooed as he migrated downstairs, kissed my cheek and handed me my bundle of joy. She kissed my nose.

"How'd your day at work go?" My husband placed his hand into my shoulder caressing it gently, I sighed bitterly.

"Latasha is putting this man out, who is out of work, and raising 2 year all by himself." My husband scoffed, and I looked at him.

"what's funny, Jeffery?" I asked, honestly confused. "You dear, why are you so worried about this guy's life?"

"Jeffery.. You know how I feel about kids.. If he gets put out him and his child won't have anywhere to stay" My husband, not caring about a word I said, just kissed my forehead along with our daughter's forehead.

"That's what jobs are for, babe" he softly whispered as he wandered off into our bedroom. I deeply sighed carrying our daughter up to her room.

"You took a shower already?" She nodded as she was fighting to keep her eyelids up, I giggled at her struggle, while I put her down in the bed, tucked her in and kissed her goodnight.

Strolling into the bedroom that my husband and I share, I slowly shredded all of my work clothes, climbing into the bed beside him, drifting fast asleep.

I sat here on the waiting bench, awaiting for Latasha's arrival; along with my daughter as she sat upon my lap devouring a chocolate chip cookie all to herself.

Minutes later, a ruby red KIA fortè pulled into the annex building parking lot and talk dark skin woman popped out, with her sandy brown suitcase.

Latasha.

"Hey, Latasha!" I choked out as my daughter squirmed in my lap, as Latasha spin around looking in my direction.

I got up, carrying my baby in my arms, while she stood there, soon when I approached her, her body stiffened up slightly.

"Yes, Mr.Brown?" Her voice, raspy and irritated. "I came to uh.. speak with you about this eviction"

She now gave me a warm smile, as she shifted her body weight onto her right side. "You have your payments?" I mentally rolled my eyes.

"I didn't say all of tha-" she cut me off. "Then Mr.Brown, we have absolutely nothing to discuss" my daughter wrapped her arms around my neck and whimpered.

"Aww, ain't that cute" I heard her sarcastically spit out. "Look, I am out here struggling.. I have a daughter. I am out of work.. just please I'm begging you.. just cut me some slack.."

"Mr. Brown" she sang, and continued to go on. "You know the policy.. Now like I've stated before.. you show up with no month's payment, YOU don't have a home. Now if you excuse me.. I have to go call a move out company, because your deadline is in three more days." And with that she strolled into the annex building, like nothing ever happened.

I clenched my jaw, to keep from installing fear into my daughter. I walked back to the bench, grabbed my bookbag, and proceeded to walk back into my limited home.

I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do.
