4 more days I thought to myself. 4 more days until school was out and I finally could call myself I high schooler. Also, 63 more days until TLG and Mark! Life has been absolutely great so far. It's Friday and I have my algebra final on Monday. Marlee is coming over to study and hang out for a little bit.
During my break period, I usually go to the library and help sort books. As I was on my way there, I got a message. It said: hey cutie! Are you excited for TLG? I replied: of course! I can't wait to finally meet you. I have to go though, our library teacher doesn't like phones😂. I didn't wait for his reply back. I clicked off my phone and put it away. While I was sorting books, a girl came up to me that I've seen maybe twice this year. "Hey is that Mark Thomas merch?"
"Yeah. It's from his new line of it," I looked away from her and continued stacking books.
"How did you get it? It doesn't come out for another week?" She asked, egging me on.
"I have connections," I replied anxiously. I'm not in the mood to explain to a stranger about how I personally know Mark. Well, not personally.
"Listen bitch," she said as she punched my shoulder. I grabbed it in pain and looked at her. "I just asked one simple question,"
I laughed, "yeah. One 'simple' question turned into a panel," Good one, Avonlee!
"Whatever. And besides, Mark is mine! Go like Jacob Sartorius. Nasty douchebag,"
"I couldn't agree more," I said still stacking books. She turned around and gave me a look before she left. When she was gone, I pulled down the collar of my shirt to look at the bruise she left me. It wasn't big, but it was blue. Good thing is, I'll probably never see her again.
---------------------------------------------
"What's the value of x in the equation 2x + 3 = 21?" Marlee asked.
"Easy, 9," I replied.
"Why?" She shot back.
I sighed. I hate explaining things. Especially when someone already knows it. "Two times nine equals eighteen. Eighteen plus three equals twenty-one,"
"Look at you go," she replied. "Let's take a break for a little bit,"
"Pizza?" I asked.
"Yes, definitely yes," she laughed. I ordered the pizza. As Marlee and I waited, I figured I should probably tell her about the bruise.
"Hey, so today while I was stacking books during my free period, this girl came up to me and asked me about Mark's merch," I explained.
"Yeah, did she like it?"
"I'm not for sure. She got really impatient with me and I got really impatient with her. So she ended up punching me in the shoulder," I showed Marlee the bruise.
"Holy cow! That thing is blue!"
"It hurts. But it turns out she doesn't like Jacob Sartorius either. So we ended on a good term I guess," I chuckled. Just then, our pizza arrived. We ate and then decided to broadcast. We did it through my account and a lot more people showed up this time than usual. We started to ask for truth and dares, but the comments blew up with things like: "how did you get that merch?" Or "how do you know Mark?" And some mean comments that I won't mention.
"Umm. Avonlee has connections and that's non of your business. If you're going to hate, get the hell off of the broadcast. Your hate is not wanted here," I didn't say anything right then. I didn't want to cause a scene. Marlee nudged my shoulder and pointed to the phone. Mark had joined the broadcast. Oh god. Do I point him out, or act like he's not even there? Ugh.
"Hiiii Mark!" Marlee shouted. Good lord, the things that chick does. Then, the comments blew up with a bunch of "OMG MARK" "MARK FOLLOW ME" "BFF MARK?"
"Guys, chill. It's just Mark," I said. Marlee got up and grabbed a piece of paper and wrote: "You're making it too obvious you know him!"
"Uhhh Marlee wants frozen yogurt. We'll be back soon guys," and I ended the broadcast. "Oh my gosh why did I do that! Mark's going to think I can't handle knowing him! Ughhhh," I complained.
"You're right, Av. Because you can't,"
"Wait. What's that supposed to mean?"
"You need to learn how to stay calm and not make it so obvious that you know him personally. If someone were to find out, rumors will get out and he probably won't be able to trust you," I sighed. She's right. I'm so stupid sometimes.
"Okay I have an idea," I told Marlee.
"What?"
"I'll tell Mark to FaceTime us and he can be in the broadcast too,"
"Good idea!" Marlee was so excited, she grabbed the phone. When Mark came up, he looked confused.
"What?" I asked.
"Nothing! Just confused as to why you ended the broadcast. Again," Marlee gave me a look that said "You can do it".
"I ended because I wanted you to be in this one," I explained. "Would you mind doing a question and answer thing with us?" Good lord please say yes do I don't look stupid.
"Of course, Av! Let's go put it on," and I did. W had so much fun and the people watching seemed to love it. I didn't answer any questions about how Mark was there, I just simply had fun. Looks like Marlee can be sane after all.
