If Only~A Star Wars Fanfiction (Updated And Partially Rewritten)

CHAPTER 5

As the three got of the speeder and on to the veranda, Luke looked around at the large apartment. There was big living room with a balcony attached. On the right side of the room, there was a small kitchen with a dining room beside it. Then there also was a hallway in between the living room and the kitchen that led to the bedrooms and bathroom.

"Luke, let me show you to your room." Said Padme who was leading Luke to the guest room.

"Thank you for your hospitality, Misses Skywalker. I hope I won't be a trouble to you." Luke told his mother politely.

"Too late." Anakin said under his breath as he sat down to work on R2.

"Anakin! He is our guest. Please treat him as such!" Scolded Padme, her hands on her hips and her face held a look that could kill.

"Whatever." Muttered Anakin as he continued to work on the small blue droid.

"I heard that Anakin Skywalker." Called Padme from the hall as she poked her head from behind the wall and gave a withering gaze to Anakin.

Anakin simply ignored her and still continued to work on R2.

"I apologize for Anakin's behavior. He does this quite a lot, so don't be too offended if he does it again. Anyway, here it is." She told Luke as opened the door to the guest room. "You have everything you need... wait, where are your things?" Padme asked feeling concerned for this strange young man.

"I really didn't have any time to pack." Replied Luke being honest, at least in some small way...

"Oh, that's fine dear. I'm sure Anakin has some old Jedi attire that would fit you perfectly." Stated Padme with a motherly touch.

"Thanks again Padme." Added Luke with a smile.

Padmè nodded and smiled back before going to ask her husband something.

"Ani, where are your old clothes? Luke doesn't have anything at all and I believe you two are almost the exact same size. If it's alright with you, I would like to give him some." Padme asked, sticking her head out of the hallway again.

"I'm fine with it. It's all in the trunk in our room, sweetheart." Came the short answer from Anakin who replied without taking his eyes off of his work.

"Thanks Ani." Padme said  before disappearing back into the hallway.

"Luke, would you please come here?" Padme requested while she looked through the trunk in her and Anakin's room.

Soon Luke was standing next to Padme as she was holding clothes up to Luke like a mother would to her young child.
"Those will work splendidly." Stated Padme as she folded the clothes and gave them to Luke. "Here. Put them in the dresser in the guest room." Commanded Padme as if she knew she was speaking to her own son.

"Thanks Padme. Your motherly instinct is definitely showing."  Luke told her, which earned him a excited smile from his mother. "Oh, I do believe a congratulations is in order." Added Luke who was beginning to leave the room.

Padmè followed him back to his room and preceded to help Luke put away his clothes.

"Thank you. I do have to say though, it's good having someone else know about our marriage besides just me and Anakin. I'm beginning to grow tired always of lying to our friends and family." Padmè told Luke sadly.

"Maybe someday you won't have to hide your relationship." Said Luke hopefully .

"Yes. Someday, perhaps. Enough about me, what about you and your life? I really don't know much about you. How far are you into your Jedi training?" Padme asked curiously.

"Well, I was nineteen when I started, so I've been training for about three years. Ben, who was a Jedi Master, began to teach me in the ways of the force. My first mission was to rescue my sister, Leia, but I didn't know she was my sister until recently." Answered Luke smiling at the thought of Ben and Leia. He missed both dearly.

"Really? That's quite odd. The council wasn't going to allow Ani join because he was too old. And he was only nine!" Padme exclaimed surprised at Luke's statement.

"I had large amount of medi-cloriens, so they couldn't afford let me go. I was told that they were in desperate conditions and needed more Jedi with the...the clone wars." Replied Luke slightly bending the truth.

"Oh. That makes sense. They were stretched thin in the beginnings of this war. So, you mentioned you had a sister. Do you have any other family by chance?" Questioned Padme, who now had a very large interest in this boy's past.

"I did, once." Luke told her solemnly. "I never knew my mother she died just after I was born from what I was told. And my father died only recently." Continued Luke sadly. "I was raised by my father's brother and his wife. They died in a fire just before I became a Jedi."

"Oh Luke! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to bring up such horrible memories." Padme apologized, feeling bad that she had pried into this poor boys pain.

Luckily, Luke moved the conversation on to the coming baby and Anakin had finally joined in, even though he had been eavesdropping for the whole conversation.

The baby had just kicked, making Anakin and Padme ecstatic, and making Luke somewhat creeped out that baby him and Leia were still inside of his mother.

"I'm five months along already. And this baby boy is making sure he's known!" Exclaimed Padme with joy.

"Who said it's a boy?" Anakin questioned with a smirk.

"I did Anakin. And I should know! I'm the one carrying him. It's mother's intuition." Padme told her husband firmly, being positive that it was a boy.

"But I know it's a girl. I can feel it in the force!" Defended Anakin who was also sure about the gender.

As his parents argued about the gender of the baby, Luke's mind wondered off.

He thought about Leia. Then he saw a vision of him, Leia, Anakin, and Padme together as a family. Oh, how he wished that was how things had worked out in the past!

But there was still hope for a change.

"Leia, I promise I will keep father from turning to the Dark Side. Then we can be together as a family and have a normal life." Luke mentally told his sister, even though he was unsure if she would even hear it.
