Chapter 3

I wake up to the sound of two voices. I pretend to be asleep so I can hear their conversation.

"Doc is she going to be okay?"

"We can't tell for sure until she wakes up. At least the bleeding had stopped. Right now I have other patients to see. Have a nice day Will."

"Doc before you go is it okay if I stay until she wakes up?"

"Will-"

Before the doctor says anything else I decide to get up. Once I sit up I realize it was a mistake. I start to feel dizzy and my vision starts to get blurry. I try to focus on one thing to stop the dizziness but it's no use. I ask,"Who are you? Where am I?" My voice sounding raspy.

I hear foot steps running towards me. I feel a hand on my back helping me lay back down. I look at the boy who saved me in the woods. I see worry in his eyes. He brushes my hair back gently with his hand and says,"It's okay. The doc will make you feel better. I am the person who saved you and the other guy who also saved you is my friend David. You are in a camp, a safe place away from Zombies. What's your name?"

I study him. He is the most gorgeous guy I've seen. He has light brown hair and beautiful brown eyes. The way he talked to me was different. In a way no one talked to me like that before. The way he gently brushed my hair back made me feel butterflies in my stomach. I don't understand what I'm feeling. My eyelids start feeling heavy and I start to slowly fall back asleep. Before I fall asleep I say one sentence. One sentence that I never thought I would say to another person.

"My name is Skylar Jacobsen."

I wake up to the sound of commotion of people doing their daily work. I rise up slowly hoping it wouldn't repeat like last time. After sitting on the bed for about a minute I notice that I wasn't getting dizzy. I rise up slowly then all of the sudden pain shot up my thigh and I fell. Trying to keep my tears in I look at my right thigh and see a big bandage around it. I look to see if there are any crutches and I see a pair of crutches on the other side of the room. Instead of standing up I crawl.

Finally making it to the other side of the room I try to rise up slowly and finally get the crutches under my arms. Right when I was about to exit out of the tent I realize that I don't have any pants on, just underwear and my shirt. I look to see wear my backpack was and I find it on a chair. I hop over to my bag and mind a pair of jeans and a shirt. I go to my bed and sit down and put my jeans and shirt on and my shoes.

I look through my bag to see if they took anything because I don't see my bow and arrows or my knife anywhere anywhere. I check to see if I see have my gun in here. Luckily I do have it and the rest of my stuff. They probably thought my bow was my only weapon. I make sure the safety is on and put the gun in the back of my pants and put my shirt over it to keep it hidden from the others. Even though they saved my life I can't fully trust them yet.

I finally get out with the sun blinding me. Once I adjust to the brightness of the sun I see people doing their daily work. I start to go around to see who's in charge. By doing so I brought attention to myself. People stop what they are doing and start starring at me like I was some alien from a different planet. They talked in hushed whispers.

Everybody turns their head to the sound of loud foot steps. I turn to see who it is and by the looks of it he is the leader of this camp. He is surrounded by a group of guys and I recognize the boy who saved me. I look at the leader and he is probably in his early thirties. He has blonde hair and light skin. He is very muscular and I bet he was in the army. The way he carries himself tells you a lot.

He stops in his path with everyone doing the same. He stares at me and I do the same. I try to stand up straighter to show I'm not weak. He notices my action and smirks. I notice the boy starring at me and ignore it. Still having a stare down with the leader he finally speaks first.

"Skylar come with me."
