An Unexpected Call

Magnus POV:

Alexander and I stayed on his bed just hugging until the sound of Mayrse and Maddie returning could be heard.

"Come on, Mags" Alec said, sliding his shirt back on "Mum will kills us if she finds us with the door shut again".

"Grr, your mum and her rules" I groaned, Alec gave me a look and I let out a sigh before getting up and slipping my shirt back on as well.

"Magnus, are you in there?" Came Maddie's voice from behind the door "Mayrse said you're not meant to have your door closed".

"We were simply blocking out Izzys music" I replied, walking over and opening the door "Did the appointment go well?" Maddie nodded happily and skipped over to the bed where Alec was sitting.

"It's a boy" Maddie informed Alec and I, smiling proudly "Isn't he beautiful?" She held up a copy of her ultrasound so that Alec and I could see it.

"He is beautiful indeed" I agreed and Maddie grinned at me "Have you given any more thought to what you're going to do with it, sorry him, after he's born?" Maddie's smile dropped and a feeling of guilt filled me "I'm sorry Maddie; I didn't mean to ruin your buzz, I'm just curious".

"No it's fine" Maddie told me, giving me a strained smile "I have been thinking about it but I still don't know what to do with him".

"Maybe you should weigh up the pros and cons?" I suggested and Maddie shrugged "Do you want to talk about it? We can go to my room and we can speak privately".

"Yeah, I'd like that" Maddie muttered "I'll meet you in your room" With that she picked up her ultrasounds and shuffled out of the room.

"Poor girl" Alec commented, looking at the doorway where Maddie had been "She doesn't deserve any of this".

"No but unfortunately there's nothing we can do now is there?" I shrugged and Alec nodded "I better go talk to her" Alec nodded again and turned back to his study book which he had received off the floor when I was distracted by Maddie before "Try not to study too hard".

"Just go, Magnus" Alec said shaking his head at me "Maddie needs you" I smiled and made my way to my room where I found Maddie laying on my bed.

"My back hurts" Maddie whined as I entered the room and I bit back a smirk.

"That's all part of pregnancy Hun" I told her "So you said you've been thinking about the baby thing?" Maddie nodded, sitting up "What have been your thoughts?" Maddie let out a stressed sigh before replying.

"I know a baby is a lot of work but I'm just not sure anymore that I can just give him up" Maddie confessed "I know I'm only young and that he was a result of rape but that's not his fault".

"I guess the thing you really to think about is how happy he'll be" I told her "In the end of the day you have to think of his happiness and if you'd be able to provide what he'll need".

"I know" Maddie nodded "Do you think I'd be able to look after him?" I simply just gave her a smile.

"As much as I want to help you Hun, I can't make your decision for you" I told her honestly "I'll always be there supporting you but It'll be you who'll be doing the raising".

"I think I could make it work" Maddie muttered, so quietly that I almost didn't hear her "I think... I think I want to keep him".

"Okay well maybe you should look up what raising a baby really does involve before you make your final decision" I suggested "Just so you actually know what you're getting into".

"I've already done some research" Maddie informed me "I'll show you" She left the room before I could reply and returned just seconds later with an overflowing folder in hand "I got bored while you were at school".

"I can see that" I nodded, taking the file from her "You've done a lot of research I see" Maddie nodded and started explaining everything to me, excitement lacing her voice the whole time.

Alec POV:

"Oh come on, Alec!" Izzy complained "You'd go if Magnus asked you to" Izzy had come into my room a few minutes after Magnus had left and was currently trying to convince me to attend a party the next night with her.

"No I wouldn't" I corrected her "I hate parties, go ask Jace or something".

"But I want you to come with me" Izzy pouted "Maybe I should convince Magnus to convince you to come, yeah I'm going to".

"No, Izzy" I interrupted her just as she started to get up to find Magnus "He's talking to Maddie right now".

"Is everything okay?" Izzy asked, suddenly serious "I heard she found out her babies gender today".

"Yeah she did, it's a boy" I told her and she nodded "But she just needed to talk to Magnus privately about the baby, well what she's going to do with it".

"Ah okay" Izzy nodded in understanding "I'll leave them alone then but I need to talk to Jace about the party, bye" With that she raced out of the room. I was just about to go back to my study books when a phone went off, I could tell instantly by the ring tone that it wasn't mine. After a few minutes of looking I located the source of the ringing, it was Magnus' phone. I debated going to get Magnus or just letting it ring but ended up answering anyway.

"Hey Magnus" An exotic sounding voice answered as I picked up the phone "What took you so long to reply?" I spent a few seconds trying to figure out if I knew the voice but nothing came to mind.

"Magnus isn't here..." I answered slowly "This is Alec speaking, who is this?" There was silence on the other end of the line.

"I'm Arram" The voice replied warily "I was Magnus' social worker".
