This is a short story I wrote when I was asleep... enjoy. Please tell me what you think!!

---------------------------------

Danger lurks in the corner, it lurks in the mirror. Danger lurks in the darkness, when the lights turn off and your mind turns on.

Suffocating you, devastating you and refusing to shut up! The danger entangles it's long arms, lingering with its touch. Running shivers, up an down your spine. You try to call out saying you're fine when you know you're drowning. You drown in knowing you can't turn away from the darkness. Your oldest friend come to take you back from your perch in the light. You fight for your life, your will, your heart and everything else you own. God cannot hear your muffled cries, He can only hear your heart breaking with each scream.

Separation. Separation from God and all others. Family disappears into the shadows no matter how hard you hold on. Your friends desert you one by one... Eating you alive. Your soul leaves you completely alone. The darkness remains in the corner, never touching you but still sucking all the life you know away from you.

Hesitation... The darkness hesitates as a shadow appears, shadows of love and kindness. Fear strikes the darkness as it takes a step back into its hole, waiting to pounce. The figure turns towards me, holding out a hand just as another figure appears. Another shadowy figure unlike the other though. The second figure is dark as night. The first, as dark as smoke. Each figure as dark as they wish, they beckon you forward. "Choose!" They scream as you get pushed in between the two shadowed figures and the darkness.

Pain, heart wrenching pain develops in your chest. A hole as black as black and as deep as forever. You stand on the edge of the cliff pondering 'to jump or not to jump..' You remain there as the figures call out. Their love equal in some ways and one towers over the other. Your head spins as you try and tell who to trust. The darkness returns, you can feel it's fingers gliding along the seam of your shirt. You pull away in fear, fear of what feelings are left; Lust, Power, Dirt and Death.

You want to run but you can't, you're surrounded. Where light once was, the darkness now takes over. The darkness creeps all around you, separating you from the small hope of love you have. Screams rage all around you, confusion ensues as you contemplate who's screams they are and where they come from. A reflection appears to the left, another to the right. On the left is the appearance you've only ever dreamed of, the perfect appearance; thin, starved and beautiful. To the right you have a different vision of perfect, one that is simple; to be perfect you must simply be yourself. You stare at the mirrors wishing you had a hand to hold. You know to go right but your heart cries to go left.

Our darkness is our lust for seeking perfection, it drags us down into that out of darkness and disparity. Alone. Scared. Confused. Dead inside. Friends continue to turn away, all except one.. He struggles to turn, he pleads to go back. With a fire and flame deeply engulfing his heart he bursts forward. Breaking all things in his sight. The darkness destroyed and the mirrors shattered. The voices have ceased and now stay quiet, waiting for your choice. Heaven and Hell await so which do you choose? You continue to question your entire life until a person catches your eye. A word is uttered, barely audible but just enough so you can hear it. The deep voices utters a single word before being dragged away. The word 'perfect' reaches your ears and you suddenly can't feel your knees. You drop in exhaustion; crying, screaming and pleading for it all to end.

You collapse; tired and dead inside... Your perfection has helped you escape but in that you've killed all you've ever known. Your perfection and grave rests in the one who first uttered that word.
