Inside

< Well then, there's no point hanging around here. We might as well go inside. >

Nodding, you still can't believe your luck. You are now a Mafia member; that's one thing you never expected to be secretly overjoyed about. However, you cannot appear too excited as you still are suspicious to an extent where Mello could easily kick you out. Or worse... No one could probably escape the likelihood of being killed, no matter how long they've spent with them.

Mello takes a walkie-talkie from his belt and holds it up to his mouth so you can't hear him well. Straining, you hear < New recruit... >  and < Yeah, a girl... >. You gulp, knowing that the Mafia is mainly male-dominated. Would that in itself arouse apprehension? No, you have to stop believing you're constantly about to be caught out. Otherwise, it could become reality...

He stops talking before turning around to unlock the combination on the door. You catch it quickly - 07984 - and remember it in order to report back to the FBI. Whilst they are likely to break into the building once they raid, it couldn't do any harm to pass on information like that.

Groaning, the door automatically slides open, clanging loudly as it stops. Mello glances at you and you realise he wants you go first. Of course, he can't have you hanging behind him and possibly running away. You are about to give him a reassuring smile in the hopes of staying on his level, before realising that you'll look like a twat. Mafia members seldom smile unless they've shot someone. Which Keehl could easily do to you.

< I'll have to talk to you later. I'm a busy man and, whilst I don't like the idea of simply taking you on board,  I have no choice on this matter. Besides, if you are from the Italian branch, I suppose you will  be certain as to what to do... >

Fortunately, enough FBI training with different weapons and in-depth research into the organisation's behaviour means that you are able to appear legitimate, which you are glad about. You nod. You know that the FBI wants result as soon as possible, but you can't interrogate him now. Drop a few questions here and there, that's what they told you. And to update them daily. Which may be impossible depending on the Mafia's situation.

Once inside, you have to restrain yourself from gasping. The warehouse, seemingly average-sized from outside, appears to be a couple of times larger from inside. This is a good thing given the amount of computer technology there is. Towards the back, there is a raised metal platform where a circle of sofas reside as well as a short coffee table piled with Hershey bars. Damn, never would have thought the Mafia members of eating so much chocolate. Perhaps there was a reason for it...

Then there are the Mafia members themselves. About a dozen are currently in the warehouse and many of them appear to be too enthralled at the computer screens they sit at to notice you and Mello. You see a couple that seem to be admiring a pistol and another smoking something that is clearly illegal. Overall, you notice one thing. They are all men and they are all older than you and Keehl. Which is odd, as he is their leader.

One man, with white-blonde hair and glasses, looks up towards the two of you and frowns.

< Hey, what's a bird doin' here? >

You shudder at the blatant sexism. You should have known they wouldn't take kindly to you but still, you can't help but feel a little offended.

< Knock it off, Jack. She's just joined us... Literally. Don't be so rude. >

Jack clearly understood this and sighed, muttering < Yeah, Boss... > under his breath. You can see that he is still staring at you, and begin to feel conscious of what you are wearing. Nothing too "out-there", just a black polo jumper and boot-cut jeans. Yet, you look away, feeling pressurised by his fixated eyes.

You feel a nudge between your shoulder blades and become alarmed to find that Mello is prodding you with his gun barrel. Is he going to shoot you? But why? You've done nothing wrong. You can see the safety switch is on but that doesn't calm you. It could easily be turned on from where his fingers are.

< C'mon... Move it. Ask someone what to do and we'll have a chat later, alright? >

Y-yes Boss... You shuffle towards the computers and stare at the keyboard before a beefy-looking man grunts at you, telling you exactly what Mello wants and how you are to go about it. Thanks, you nod and begin carrying out the task. However, you have one thing on your mind and it feels uncomfortable. You shouldn't even be considering it... Right?

The Mafia leader is very different to how you imagined him to be. Of course, you saw photos of him again and again, but in real life, he appears to go about everything so effortlessly and confidently. A confidence you could never acquire...

Are you crushing on Mello?
