* Okay, so it's Christmas time! And what's a great way to show the Christmas spirit? Write a story about Christmas! So that's what I'm doing! Please, I know some of you probably don't like Christmas stories, but please, if you took the time to read this story, I'd be really happy. *
“Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas!” Shouted my uncle David, who was currently dressed as Santa. Heaps of little children ran up to him as he handed out free candy canes. I swear that these children have never heard of the saying; never take candy from strangers.
I closed my bedroom window and looked over at my bed where my elf uniform was laid out. I grabbed it and headed towards the bathroom. Christmas time is my favourite event of the year. I just love Christmas in general. All the lights, Santa, presents! It’s just fantastic.
Once I’d successfully dressed myself into my elf uniform, I dawdled over to the front door. I took a few seconds to gain my inner elf self and flung open the door. I skipped over to my uncle David and started helping him with handing out candy canes.
It’s the same every year. My uncle and I dress up and hand out candy 3 times a week; Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Our house is decorated like the North Pole. Our shed has been turned into a barn for the Reindeer, and our house is Santa’s house. Down the back there’s another shed which we turned into Santa’s Workshop. Everyone loves it.
“Thanks again kid,” uncle David whispered to me.
I smiled at him. My way of saying that it was alright.
“Where’s aunt Joanne?” I whispered after he’d given a little girl her candy cane.
“She’s gone shopping for some more candy canes, we’re running out!”
Suddenly a car came zooming past, their music blaring. I winced as the music deafened me for several seconds. They suddenly came to an abrupt stop and reversed back to our house.
“Not them again,” uncle David groaned.
These guys keep on coming back to our house every night. All they do is cause trouble. And tease me about my elf uniform. I just ignore them and ask if they’d like a candy cane.
“Back again fellas?” I shouted as they walked over to us.
“Yeah, just give us the usual candy cane woman. And while you’re at it, why don’t you go to the kitchen and make me some hot cocoa?” All of them sniggered and snatched the candy canes from my outstretched hand.
“Thanks, hope you have a miserable Christmas,” I mumbled as they strutted off.
“I don’t know why they come back all the time,” uncle David said, turning around to refill his sack of candy. I nodded my head. Aunt Joanne’s car pulled up into the driveway just as uncle David groaned about there only being 10 candy canes left.
“I know. Anyway, here’s aunt Joanne. Are you alright by yourself while I go help her unload all the candy canes?”
“Yeah kid, off you go. I’ll be alright by myself for the rest of the night. Besides, Joanne’ll be out here too. I think she bought a Mrs. Claus outfit yesterday. Make sure you remind her for me!”
I jogged over to aunt Joanne and started to get out the candy cane boxes.
“Thanks honey,” aunt Joanne said as I picked up a box and walked back over to uncle David with the boxes of candy canes.
“Oh, aunt Joanne! Uncle David wants you to dress up as Mrs. Claus, he said that you bought the outfit?” I asked while running back towards her.
“Oh yes! I completely forgot, silly me. Um,” she paused for a minute, clearly thinking something through.
“Do you want me to take the rest?” I offered.
